NAZ, he got everyone my age into Boxing in the mid 90's who didn't give a **** about Boxing at the time whether it was people who liked him or the haters who wanted to see him get beat. Hatton for his popularity aswell. Calzaghe not so much till the end of his career.
I remember more big fight nights involving Hamed than Hatton, way more. 1995-2002 was flash in the pan? (thats taking it from Steve Robinson fight not the start of his career in 1992)
Do you mean ****ing off to Vegas and fighting Prime Pacquiao and Prime Mayweather (Hatton), or Hamed ****ing off to MSG and taking Kevin Kelley on, or heading out to fight Aughie Sanchez in CT, or Cesar Soto in Detroit. Plus fighting any **** that was stuck in front of him.
Agree, but as much as I rate Joe and am a fan..he's not the one who will have inspired kids to pull on a pair of gloves, he's not the boxer who generated excitement and publicity in the sport and didnt give us too many nights to remember unfortunately.
