its not about not recognising fighters who fight outside the US, its about not recognising talented fighters who genuinely dont chase fights that they are good enough to get involved in.

of course hes not ****, hes a very good fighter, but what came out of his mouth was because he talked up a game he never intended to follow through.

But he cleaned up his 168.
Boxing is not all about chasing fighters at different weights. That is only relevant there days because of the mickey mouse P4P rankings which just creates miss matches and freak shows. I know there are exceptions to the rule like pac man but it is a state of boxing that i personaly hate.
In reality he never really ducked anyone at 168. The jones fight never happened because Jones was unreal back then when he was floating around 168 and joe probably was not too keen on a fight that would be a small purse for him and could take his belts and finish his earning ability. And joe for roy was a live opponent who was to great a risk for not enough financial gain. So they cancelled each other out.
And hopkins we all know about. Its not easy to crack america when other fighters are pulling all the strings. And boxing is a job after all.

Eventually, and only when people were prepared to come here with their more prestigious belts in their suitcase.

There are no more prestigious belts or less prestigious belts.

As has been pointed out earlier, the belt's prestige is tied directly to the presige of the beltholder.

At one time the WBA was the one to have. Then came the WBC.

For well into the four belt era, many ranked those two above the WBO and IBF.

But with WBA hi jinks around the Valuev-Ruiz fights and their creation of 'ordinary' and 'super' champions, their credibility went out the window.

    And the WBC?

    Jose suliman. 'nuff said.

Peter beats Toney in an eliminator and is ordered to rematch him.

The courts have to force the WBC to drop their idea of making Vitali fight Oleg.

    A joke of an organization.

    And the IBF ?

Till recently, they stripped any IBF title holder who tried to unify by fighting one of the other three.

The WBO belt is no better nor worse than the other three.

It comes down to who holds the title.

Glenn Johnson embarassed Jones much more than Calzaghe.....Johnson won virtually every round and then put an exclamation on it by stretching Jones for several minutes.

I never feel good or root for such devestating KO's where a fighter is badly hurt.......but its hard to feel bad for someone who disses others......

Roy Jones about Wlad Klitchko- "He's like a dog who cant fight his way out the bottom."

Ever since Jones made that comment, he career has sprialed. He said it referring to Wlad....but when you analyze matters.....the whole comment stuck on him.
It turned out Jones was the dog that could'nt fight his way out the bottom.:yep

The point is, regardless of those things, people still like fighters to clear out their division and that normally involves unifying titles. Something Joe was unable to do until the above mentioned fighters came here to risk them against Joe. A man who claimed 168 was "his" division. If you can't see what's wrong with that, then you're a myopic zealot as well.

    agreed.
so how hard do you think it would have been for joe to crack america.... if warren wasnt pulling his strings...since hatton did it and he was less talented.

any way you say it its an excuse for joe because he was too damn good and it would have been easy...easy....for him to get a fght with hopkins or jones considering the weak divisions they ruled

Very, I should imagine, given that he was none too vocal about his intentions and claimed to have a fear of flying for the majority of his career. It's become the easy get out for Calzaghe fans to place the blame on Warren.

I was talking to novice boxing fan the other day and I mentioned Calzaghe's name and the guy said to me,"Isn't he the guy that tried to butt **** an opponent in the ring?"

I said yes he is to which the guy replied, "I'll always remember that butt****er."

The post was entirely in response to your ranking of one of the belts as inferior to the others.

I didn't touch on the Joe issue at all.

If you can't see that, then you can't read.
