I think Kessler realizes more than ever it's time to establish his legacy, and the fact that his missing out on millions. I've been very critical of him, but if its true, that he wants to part way with his management, at least its a step in the right direction.
Danish media writes that Glenn Johnson offered himself to team Palle at a catch weight of 170, but the article also states that the disputes between Kessler and Palle makes it dificult to proceed with this fight. That is really a shame because i see Johnson as top 4 at lh. and he is a very recognisable name. This could however also just be some thing that Palle says, to make the public believe thta he is acting in kesslers best interest.
I have no doubt Kessler wants to fight the best. He just doesn't have the right guy guiding his ship right now. He really needs to break away from Palle and try to find some other way to advance his career.
The point was that it was an easily winnable fight on HBO which could've let to more lucrative fights. Instead his team turned it down. It was an easy money no risk all reward fight and they dropped the ball. Simple as that.
Palle said they didn't want the fight at 175. Shaw said they only wanted the fight at 175. Kessler said he would fight Dawson at 168 or a catchweight. Dawson hasn't mentioned Kessler. Nobody 'turned down' the fight because no offer has ever been made from either side (HBO were interested in making the fight, but it hasn't gone further than that). Nobody is really interested in pushing for it right now either.
Incorrect in the facts. The fight was initially lined up as a non-title fight on Showtime. Kessler pulled out of that to enforce his mandatory status against Mundine. When Mundine vacated Mogens Palle arranged for Miranda to be advanced in the WBA rankings and offered the vacant title shot to Miranda, this was the fight that was to have been on HBO. That was turned down by Miranda who was in negotiations with Abraham by that point and preferred to stay with the non-title catchweight fight against Abraham on Showtime rather than the title shot against Kessler on HBO.
He's in a position where he can't really fight anyone yet, EXCEPT for Lucian Bute. Froch and Taylor are going to fight Karoly Balzay will probably fight Andre Dirrell So Lucian Bute is available unless he needs to fight his mandatory right away. He can fight another bum and wait for the winner of the Abraham/Pavlik match.
Apart from the fight being for the WBC strap what the hell is so f**cking brilliant about fighting Pascal. Lets face it nobody is making any serious noise at SMW at the moment. Taylor fighting washed up Lacy and Bute nearly loosing to Andrade who Kessler by the way dispatched of without any trouble whatsoever. Did anybody mention Inkin Vs. Balzay? No I didn't think so...
