A more interesting question would be who survived the most punches - it's emphatically Ali

You can say Lewis fought, say, Michael Grant for instance but Lewis basically exposed him massively as basically a novice and a hype job?

And Tua?? He barely even threw a punch in anger at Lewis?

Rahman was most definately a puncher and he one-bombed Lewis

Tyson well I'm not gunna start there - he was sooo far gone

McCall wasn't really a puncher and he one bombed Lewis aswell

Bruno was definately a puncher and he dominated Lewis for 6 rounds and was winning the fight before Lewis pulled it out

    Morrison was definately a puncher

Golota basically had a panic attack

    Phil Jackson?? Mavrovic?? Really??

Shannon Briggs rattled Lewis from pillar to post

You have to take into account form and circumstance and performance a little because it means nothing if David Tua had a massive left hook if he basically didn't hit Lewis for 12 rounds

Most of those men were serious punchers

You said Ali faced better punchers but Lewis faced more.

Danny Williams and Kevin McBride stopped Tyson aswell go figure.

Don't even get me started about Douglas have you even seen the fight?? He basically looked for a comfortable spot and laid down?

Moorer had a bit of a iffy chin anyway, and anyway that was more accumulation not punching power?

I agree with this. Calling Holyfield a serious puncher at heavyweight is a bit of a stretch (akin to many of the names on Swag's original Ali ledger).

He was a boxer-puncher hybrid if truth be told and one that had excellent precision.. So yeah he could punch and sometimes even slugged depending on what type of fight he was in.

Yeah how many times did he have to hit the guy to drop him and look at the stage of Bowes career he was on the slide - he never threatened to drop him in their first 2 fights when it would've been more impressive? That was always the bug bear with Holy during his career that if he only had a real concussive punch at heavyweight he would've been practically unbeatable in the era but he just didn't he guys with everything and they didn't really budge so he had to outwork them generally over the stretch

nonsense, if you got into the ring with a puncher, and you beat him, you still beat a puncher. The fact you were skilled enough to avoid getting hit is a testament to your boxing skills. What if you rolled with a punch as it landed, did you still get hit by it?

Much of your argument ( ie Briggs, Bruno) boils down to Lewis was losing before he won and it anything these two names support that Lewis had a good chin, otherwise he would have lost.

But if your question is who had the better chin between Ali and Lewis, well Ali's winning that discussion.

What are you talking about "he was on the slide" Bowe won the god damn fight. How's that on the slide?

Nobody is saying Holyfield was an all time power puncher but he could crack enough to drop Bowe and stop Tyson, that speaks for itself, no matter how you try spinning it.

It depends what conclusions are being drawn from these fights. If the point is that Lewis could beat big punchers, then you are right-- the list is relevant whether Lewis took any hard punches in those fights or not. If the list is meant to be a testament to the quality of Lewis' much maligned chin though, then Rocky's observations are highly pertinent and the list potentially very misleading.

Ali won the Spinks rematch. So He wasn't on the slide? Liston beat Wepner so he wasn't on the slide? Lewis beat Vitali, so he wasn't on the slide right? It's not that simple, as you see.

    Mac Foster, anyone?

So, Lewis didn't face him then? So, he didn't go 12 rounds with one of the most devastating left hooks the division ever saw? Cool. I'll go back and erase my tape that says Lewis-Tua.

    Cleveland Williams, anyone? Sonny Liston?

Yes, he really was a puncher. Ask those who faced him.

So, again, did Lewis face this devastating puncher or not? And did he win or not?

And again, Lewis faced him. It's a matter of record. Golota's performance had everything to do with Lewis.

He put Bowe down only once, after landing many, many solid punches over the course of 30 rounds of fighting though, right?

You clearly were either not born then or were too young to know - Bowe was blatantly on the slide by then - it was common knowledge?? For that matter so was Holy? Were you even alive then? These are not unusual things to anyone that was following boxing at the time - it was basically universal opinion?
