Edgar for me dominating BJ the 2nd time and running it very close the 1st when he was given a snowballs chance. I thought the 1st could of gone either way but its on his record so I'll go with him.
Wait til Cain fights JDS to ask this! Right now, def Edgar after easily beating Penn the 2nd tiome around, but i think if Cain defends his belt, then it's about even. Taking down UFC's big dog is a pretty big accomplishment for Cain....

Definitely Frankie Edgar. Beat a man who many (including me) though was unbeatable at lightweight. He was a massive underdog against BJ. Many people favoured Cain against Lesnar.
Wait what?? who? Why was Lesnar the favorite then? the majority of people here were picking Lesnar but now that he beat him "we knew all along" Penn is a hell of a fighter but he was on the slide. Lesnar was riding a hell of a win after Carwin. There was talk of his chin and jijitsu that would have you believe he was unbeatable. Even compared to long time legengs like Fedor.
Edgar's wins actually meant more. Velasquez was higher profile. Like it or not, heavyweights carry more prestige with the majority of casual fans just by virtue of beings heavyweights. Two wins over BJ Penn with the lightweight title on the line is HUGE - but in the big picture, Velasquez's star will probably shine brighter based on his win over Brock alone.
Take a look back at some of the threads on here. Many people were picking Cain (I wasn't one of them), as well as many fighters. That's not to say that Lesnar wasn't favourite. Absolutely no one gave Frankie a chance in hell of beating BJ and a lot of people picked BJ in the rematch. BJ will probably be remembered as one of the best ever. Brock won't. I think.
It's a tough decision. Edgar did beat the man who is arguably the greatest lightweight of all time in BJ Penn - not once - but twice.
What are you talking about? Lesnar was coming off a win that made him look VERY beatable... Seriously, if another ref had been in that octagon it could have been stopped as Lesnar was not defending himself throughout the first round. The only reason Lesnar got the win is because Carwin was too over-eager and tired himself out. Lesnar was exposed in that match, which is why many thought Valasquez had a good chance. Valasquez got a very good win; but Edgar got a great (yet very close) win and followed it up with a more dominating version the second time around.
