My point is, James Toney is significantly better than Canelo Alvarez. So unless Golovkin not only beats Canelo Alvarez, but beats him by a wide enough margin (both which he's failed to do), then his chances of beating James Toney is pretty much nonexistent.

It's an insult to even compare him to true technicians like Mike Mccallum and James Toney!

You can't go from going life and death against Canelo Alvarez in 24 rounds, and then standing much of a chance against a James Toney. Doesn't work that way!

Golovkin really is not that special! He is a middleweight, yet is stiffer, clumsier, more robotic and uglier looking than many light heavyweights, cruiserweights and heavyweights. Heck, a super heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko is far more athletic pound for pound than this disgusting filth that is Golovkin, who looks like his body's range of motion is on the level of a stiff-board.

Usyk, Breidis, Gvozdyk and Bivol are all far superior than that stiff-hypejob that is Golovkin.

It would have been an insult to compare Iran Barkley to Thomas Hearns also, but look what happened. You never really know tell they get in the ring.Because of Toneys proven chin and fluidnes,i would give him the edge over Golovkin but it's more 50/50 vs Mccallum. Mccallum don't hit hard enough to really bother GGG and we don't really know how well Mike would handle GGG`s power although I think he might.

Thomas Hearns wasn't 'great' in that division against Barkley. Pound for pound, the comparison is null but head to head, it isn't.

The thing is, Mike Mccallum is absolutely accustomed at middleweight and went up multiple divisions whilst having success. I simply think he's a level too far for Golovkin.

Mike took some heavy blows from Julian Jackson that would've sparked out a lesser opponent. So I don't think Golovkin's chances are too high for getting a KO here. Canelo Alvarez is a guy who's chin has never been proven against a puncher like Julian Jackson, before he faced Golovkin, yet was able to eat all of Golovkin's best shots like candy without even seeing the canvas ONCE. The difficulties further increases for Golovkin since Mike Mccallum's chin is EVEN MORE proven as he has faced more punchers and is still yet to get KO'ed.

When Golovkin actually KO's or at least even drops Canelo Alvarez, only then will he be qualified as someone who can even hope to KO Mike Mccallum.

Mike's boxing skills and IQ are also levels above Golovkin.

    GGG.

To keep up with the 90's Middleweights you need to have a great great gas tank. Canelo has a shocking one for his elite level.
GGG and Canelo's chin would hold up better than most, but GGG's jab would pose alot of problems for the "flashier" of fighters.

GGG around 28/29 would do well in the 90's. Canelo not soo much.

Clenelo has literally only beaten 2 MWs in his entire career and one of those wins was a gift against an opponent who was way past prime and the other was the sloppy seconds of said way past prime version of the other one. Conversely, GGG has beaten more MWs than Clenelo has had fights amateur and pro. You do the math.

Your prime middleweight true technician Toney lost to Dave Tiberi but was gifted a win 3 months after his draw with McCallum. Prime GGG has no chance? Lol

No, he really doesn't! James Toney has already beaten a better version of Golovkin in Vassily Jirov. Styles make fights and Golovkin's style doesn't do him favors against a counter-punching specialist in James Toney.

James Toney fought his best against the best opponents. Golovkin is going to see the best version of James Toney that he won't be able to cope with, and I also think he very well gets stopped too.

The thing is would Canelo be asking Greb, Monzon or Hagler to come in at 155 or insert a rehydration clause.
