    I voted Holmes its close

both guys cleaned out their respected eras and beat pretty much everybody

I mean Holmes didnt get Page or Ali when he was younger but the Ali one wasnt his fault, maybe could have fought Coetzee, Tubbs, or Thomas but all those WBA champs were so hot and cold and usually lost after 1 or no defenses and often didnt show up every time

Lewis didnt get Wlad but that wasnt his fault and he didnt get Ibeabuchi not his fault either and Bowe avoided the hell out of him

Both have wins over shot legends like Ali and Tyson however many writers said Ali could win and were fooled by Ali's physique but Holmes always says you know you said Im gonna lose and when I win hes shot

Holmes never lost til he was Lennox's age at retirement and that was two really close ones to Spinks he sat out and then fought Tyson with no return bout

He fought prime Holyfield extremely tough and may have deserved the nod vs McCall

Lewis won the title, lost won back avenged his loss, unified lost and won back

Holmes wins include Ali, Norton, Shavers, L Spinks, Witherspoon, Weaver, Mercer, Williams, Berbick, Snipes, Cooney, The first 7 are very good the last few are ok but he was a guy who beat everybody and cleaned the division and had longevity

Lewis win include, Ruddock, Bruno, McCall, Morrisson, Mercer, Holyfield, Tyson, Maverick, Klitschko, Rahman, Grant, Golota some very good scalps himself

Holmes also had the longer stay at the top

Close I think I'll rule in favor of Holmes

Holmes, no doubt, he'd be #3 or 4 on my HW ATG list (behind Louis and Ali), Lewis is about 9-12ish to me.

Holmes, are you serious? He presided over the worst era ever and couldn't even dominate that. When Tyson came along it was an ABC of champs.

    He...

    A) did actually dominate his era

    B) had no control or responsibility over the quality of his era

    C) would have dominated in many other eras including the current one

and D) is virtually unbeatable h2h at his very peak, but by maybe one or two men, ever.

Let me guess, you got Vitali rated above him?

Why is it that Holmes, after getting demolished by a PRIME TYSON MONSTER, was able to 4 years later beat a PRIME MERCER, an old one which is WLAD's BEST WIN and not quite as old but still one of Lewis' hardest fights..

Meanwhile, when Vitali like Tyson and Marciano and even Holmes met his 39 year old champion on the decline, his eyeball almost popped out and he was hanging on like a homosexual.

    Explain that.

    exactly

I mean there a couple of guys he didnt face or maybe could have fought Ali sooner but thats hardly his fault or his fault alone

plus all the WBA guys were so hot and cold and temporary like Tubbs wins and then puts the weight on Coetzee wins then loses, Thomas wins then loses

I mean there were fights available but did it matter no

I did a top 10 heavyweights list a while back and had Lewis at 3 and Holmes at 4, however I have no qualms with anyone who has that in reverse order. They're a similar level to me - both undoubtedly behind Ali and Louis but above the rest.

The HW division has been DEAD AS DIRT, on day 1 of Lewis's retirement. :yep

    A. He didn't dominate his era, he lost TWICE at age 35 to Michael Spinks, a light heavy, who then infamously choked against Tyson in 91 seconds.

    B. He had control to dominate and he didn't.

    C. :rofl The Klits and Haye would stop the 35 y/o Holmes that flopped against feather fisted Spinks without much bother. And he has a record littered with UD's and SD's. 58% KO's not great at all considering the weak opposition. Plus a lot of that was 15 rounders, he had three more rounds to get guys out of there.

    PLus this whole

"beat every fighter via rematch" is BULL

Lennox was LUCKY fighters he lost to actually GAVE him rematches

He ever did so himself in close battles think Mercer and Klitscko:yep

Also Bowe is a coward for dropping a title but lennox did thsi himself to 2 fighters

    Wassup with that

At the time both faced Lewis, Yes, they were both plain journeyman contenders. Nothing special. Holmes would have soundly defeated both and made it look like neither deserved to be in the same ring, which they didn't. :yep:good
