Who is the greatest NON-ATG Fighter in your book?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by bigbootyboxing, Apr 29, 2013.

  1. How will you judge the heavyweights though? A lot of people believe for heavyweights.. it's a separate ranking because of the unique disposition of the division.

Because if it's just top 50... overall.
Wladimir. Tyson.. and a bunch of others might not make it . I think I can easily find 50 fighters with greater resumes than Wladimir.. and probably than Lewis..Holmes..Tyson as well.

Tszyu is up there. I can't think of one guy in particular that sticks out above the rest.

*edit* my bad, mistakenly read the question as favorite non-ATG fighter and not greatest. But I like the Kostya mention, is Ricky Hatton considered an ATG?

Thoughts on Bob Montgomery?...tough Philly fighter....couldn't beat Joyce, Angott for the life of him and got sparked by Bummy in a round

BUT he stopped Ike Williams twice, and beat Beau Jack and Zivic......

Quartey was good. But he's not an ATG.

Yeah, LMR still is pretty underrated even though he's definitely an ATG.

  7. Do you think Trinidad is an ATG?

Tito is borderline. You have to say if we match him with some of the great welterweights of the past, Tito does have a shot at winning.

Ike Ibeabuchi, Tony Ayala, Ricardo Williams, Bernard Mayes - if we're allowed to include wasted talent.

Trinidad is an ATG if you don't consider the wraps relevant. Quartey COULD have been HOF material and who knows what else... like Clottey, he just slipped away with a lot of work still to be done.

Tito is borderline. With Hopkins and Delahoya there was a limitation to him, including Winky.

I'd say Tito's in the excellent/borderline great category.

I think Tito is the gate keeper for ATG. Hes right at the fringe. But I gotta go with Norris, Hamed, Vargas, Macho.

    Did anyone say Paul Williams?
