Although I personally prefer Larry Merchant because of his personality, I think Al Bernstein is the better commentator.

Al Berstein is the best in the game right now and it's not even close.

 

Larry. He is a repository of wit and humor and he knows a Glass Jaw when he sees one.

From a UK perspective,Ian Darke is badly missed and has only been on once that I remember in the last year.
By far the UK's best boxing commentator.

 

steward and atlas are knowledgeable but they're not really commentators.

to be honest, they're all forgettable pygmies compared to howard cossell. i'd sooner they just sampled bits of his commentary and used that.

 

Bob Sheridan. His Pac/Margarito for Top Rank is one of the best I've heard.

 

Off that list easily Bernstein.
