In the early days of Watts commentating he had Reg's guidance and he was a lot better, nowadays he reminds me of a old moaning lesbian, got the hairstyle too.
Not that bothered to be honest, it would be better if there was just one commentator though like there used to be in the old days, having two commentators just encourages incessant waffle and hyperbole. Jim is a love or hate character, if it's a dull fight you know you're in for a moaning session, so I turn the sound down and talk to my wife.
the worst thing i hate with english commentatin is when someone is rocked and the commentators just say somethin like 'Oh hes clipped him there' i remember in the Dirrell -Froch fight the commentator said somethin dull like 'Hes hurt Froch a bit there' then the american commentators were shoutin like 'Dirrell hurt Froch hes hurt' something like that
I couldn't disagree more. I often find myself considering watching fights by more nefarious means, even when they're being carried in the UK, just to avoid the inane :dead that passes for commentary in this country.
A major issue is Jim Watt doesn't like drama, he just likes fighting but Jim comes from a different era where that was true, more realistic ideology. Jim says that he doesn't like all the hollywood at weigh ins, press conferences etc and thats the very reason why he is so ****. Jim Lampley for all his flaws understands boxing is entertainment and understands the historic significance of each moment, its possible consequences and how he must deliver it.
Well it is the weekend! Each to their own mate :good :deal Jim Lampley is a bloody legend, I love his delivery and totally agree that he adds a genuine sense of occasion to the big events.
I don't know about Lampley, a bit like some of the Brit commentators loves the sound of his own voice a bit too much for my liking. He does come across as a lot more enthusiastic though I'll give him that.
it seems to be quite split with you all, which is probably why they keep it the same. Jim What mentioned Bute Nt being the same fighter, eery single round last. night. Probably every minute. It was 60 minutes of him moaning about Bute. Mention it 2 or 3 times if you must, as it was the case. But then discuss the match. Discuss who's winning. What adjustments could be made by either fighter. Show some excitement when decent shots were landing. Credit Bute's apponent who has a decent resume, and fought hard and showed to be very tough. (especially in that last round) Maybe a bit of technical insight. So many things they could do better it's untrue. Get Paulie Malignaggi on. He'll show you how to commentate.
Lampley is alright when he's not in full blown cheerleading mode. Which is rare unfortunately these days.
Although I used to like him on KOTV, it is Nick Halling that has been annoying me the most recently on Sky. Other than that, I think the commentary is decent enough.
