Both looked like garbage but Kessler in my view lost to the better fighter. With that being said AA landed some shots, knocked Dirrell down and was still in the fight at the time of the incident while Kessler was never in the fight against Ward and as early as the second round it was quite clear he couldnt win that fight. All things considered i pick Kessler.
Kessler looked a lot worse. The Abraham that fought Dirrell sets up to fight that way against all his opponents (slow start, high guard, walking the other guy down, throwing powerful shots rather than lots of weaker ones). Abraham was getting to Dirrell in the later rounds and hurting him. Would have been a very interesting final round had it got that far! Kessler did'nt make any impact at all against Ward. He had a horror show in all honesty.
I won't take part in these kind of games. I like boxing as a sports and I like good boxers, no matter where they come from. The whole America vs. Europe, Germany vs. UK crap stinks.
Kessler looked worse but despite being soundly beaten at least he ended the fight with his dignity intact unlike Abraham. I fully believe Dirrell beat Froch and he is to me at least a lot better than Ward who despite his obvious skills tends to fight dirty and lead with his head. I think Dirrell would have finished Kessler off alot quicker than Ward as out of the two he actually appears to be the harder hitter having put Abraham down twice (once he was saved by the ropes and the refs ineptitude).
Kessler no-contest. He was never really close to winning the fight, AA had his chances. Maybe Kessler could have done better if he wasn't so unlucky with the cuts. I'd like to see how Ward would deal with AA style, so I hope they end up 2 and 3rd or 1st or 4th even though I don't think it will happen
Hmm.. after reading your opiniuns, Ill jump on the wagon and say that Kessler looked worse.. Cuz Abraham looked like he allways does.. He is just not good enough.. Kessler looked bad.. i Agree
kessler looked by far the worst. he looked like an amatuer really trying to deal w/ a seasoned vet when it should have been the other way around. he looked like he'd never been in a real scrap, had no clue how to fight out of a clinch and would drop his hands instead of fighting out of it and had no idea how to deal w/ a guy who would fire and then jump in head first. aa fought the way he always does and had his moments.
No, I don't know that for sure. I said most likely, because that's my subjective assessment. Abraham was having better rounds in 10 and 11 and Dirrell seemed to struggle a bit for the first time in the fight. One knockdown should have been awarded to Abraham. If the KO was not faked by Dirrell and Abraham was able to KO him with a swinging straight arm instead of an effective punch, chances are he would have KO'd Dirrell for real in four more remaining rounds. Just swing your arm in the position Abraham did when he fouled Dirrell and see how much power you can generate...
Kessler won 2-3 rounds on the cards and Abraham didn't get butted, wresled, elbowed, shoved, lowblowed, grappled, shoulder-rubbed and harrassed in his corner like Kessler did. I re-watched Kessler Ward and I agree with the OP. We're just used to AA losing the first rounds so we weren't as surprised. Besides Dirrells punches were MUCH hrder than the love taps Ward made. Whether Dirrell or Ward is better depends on whether or not Victor Conte is enlisted...
yes you are correct. he should have had some points deducted. but most seasoned fighters try SOMETHING ANYTHING to put a stop to it if the ref won't. throw an elbow up for god's sake. quit dropping your hands when it looks like a clinch is coming.
Kessler actually admitted that he way off with his gameplan and tactics against Ward and really wasn't himself, although I also give Ward credit for that part. Abraham was frustrated but I believe that was all his opponents fault, he just can't box that good for 12 rds. Don't think Arthur think he could have done anything different, and he had a decent chance to win with his power.
