    Lennox Lewis by a landslide.

    This isn't even debatable.

According to those guys, Joe proved he's the "ultimate champion" by beating a SHOT Roy Jones, but Lennox fought Holyfield "too late".

    :verysad

You gotta give me props, at about 1:47 I already wanted to smash my screen and my speakers.

Gotta go with Lewis. He fought top elite fighters from the start and didnt stop until he stopped fighting. Yeah he lost two fights along the way but that is what happens when you fight the best there is to fight all the time.

Read my post about what some idiots on a british boxing radio show said, comparing those two.

    Now, THAT'S an insult. :deal

Excuse me, I just had a glimpse at the poll results, there are some bitter guys on ESB I must say.

Despite what some posters say, there isnt a lot to separate the resume`s of Calzaghe & Lewis... only the location in which most of the fights were fought.

Calzaghe is more adaptable & has the better boxing skills.

Lewis got KOd TWICE by guys that shouldnt have even tested him.

Lewis became the undisputed no1 HWT in the world... Calzaghe did likewise at SMWT, had 21 defences + is the current LHWT champ & is no lower than 3rd in todays p4p ranks at age 36 (a lot of guys have him at no1), the big guy never came close to climbing so high in the ranks, he would have become dizzy.

Big Lennox was a good fighter... the best HWT since peak Tyson IMO but Calzaghe was the best SMWT & British fighter that I ever saw & wins this one comfortably.

Ps. the votes kinda went as I expected as Lewis is well liked on ESB & Calzaghe ?... well, you lot know the story there. Think with your heads, not your hearts.

    1. I agree that those saying "Lennox by landslide" are exaggerating. There is truth in what you're saying, since Calzaghe is also a great fighter. Still, as far as RESUME is concerned, it is NOT very close. Also, Lennox went to fight in the US and fought everybody there was available as a result of that. No, Joe didn't "duck" anyone, but can he claim he faced everybody available while fighting in Britain?

    2. Excuse me??? Have you actually watched Lennox Lewis? Calzaghe has the better boxing skills? Surely Calzaghe has faster hands and adaptability. But what about defense, power, accuracy, use of the jab?

    3. Granted, he was KO'd twice. Yet everyone who mentions it forgets to add that he avenged both losses, and in a desicive manner. He also beat every fighter he faced, just like Calzaghe. Do you think that just Joe's "0" makes him better? Rocky Marciano retired undefeated, yet many heavyweights WITH LOSSES in their record rank above him all time. Why do you think this is? Record is surely a factor when ranking a fighter, but it's definitely much more criteria.

    4. HW is a division that exists as long as the sport does. How many years does SMW exist?
    Is there really a comparison?
Lewis also had 13 defenses. P4P rankings? You think the guys that were around THEN are equal to the guys that are around now?
    Is there really a comparison?

    5. In your first sentence you state "there isnt a lot to separate the resume's of Calzaghe & Lewis", and here you say "Calzaghe wins this comfortably". Not only does he win this, but comfortably? Now who sounds "bitter" and exaggerating? Cmon.

    6. So do you think Lewis is liked better than Calzaghe ONLY on ESB? And you can honestly say your approach on the thread's subject was with your head, and not your heart, in order to vote on this poll?

Sorry, Joe wins many polls in here and rightfully so. I can assure you I vote for him in many of them. Most are public, so you can go and check it out.

But he doesn't win this one.

De La Hoya is more well known than Sugar Ray Robinson. Popularity contests aren't the only litmus test.

The euphoria from the Jones fight has died down and people are thinking straight again.
