He is in big trouble, Roach made him better but he needs someone like mayweather Sr or Pernell Whitaker, to improve his overall game.
Well he is now on the road to becoming a star. He is undefeated, has a loud mouth father and KO power which is all very marketable. I dont see why he will risk all this potential just for one fight where he will make just under a mil.
Erik Morales, who is just shot enough for Khan to get some rounds in (read: try to fight in a more conservative, defensive, counterpunching-based style so he doesn't get KTFO again), pick up a win against a big name, a decent payday, and some confidence back. Do this in November 2012. Then he should take on Breidis Prescott in a rematch; face the first thing that sidetracked his career, and outbox him for a UD or late TKO. To get himself back mentally, he can't leave unfinished business in my opinion. Do this in January/February 2013. Next, try to get PEDerson in a rematch. He needs to face PEDerson again as well, to demonstrate he can deal with infighters, and get his revenge to restore some more of his mental damage. Do this in May 2013. Finally, with all of that done, take on Garcia once more in a rematch in September 2013. Khan needs to go back to the drawing board, revamp his style, change trainers (to Floyd Sr. or Emmanuel Steward), face the demons of his early career, and forget about getting a massive payday quickly. He's still young, and should try to spend the next year or two rebuilding his style and his confidence to get his career back on track and better than it was.
i think eric brown can help him. he's one of the trainers in the wildcard. he trains kid chocolate and paulie malignaggi. very good defensive trainer.
Its not a risk to rematch Khan as he has him figured out, unless he can Fight Mayweather or Pac (btw he loses to both), I don't see where he could get as much money. Fighting JMM, Peterson or moving up to fight Bradley, Berto or Alexander are riskier fights IMO than fighting Khan and aside from JMM likely won't get as much money for em either.
Other. Kendall Holt would be a good bounce back fight for Khan, also Holts best weapon is a left hook, and these days that's about all he tries to throw. It'd give Khan a chance to work ok defending it from a guy who doesn't do much else in the ring anymore. I don't think Khan needs to rush back into a big fight just yet, there shouldn't be any rush for this after the whooping he just took, really in two fights in a row, though it could be argued he won the Peterson fight, either way it was also a tough fight. He should rest for a while, then get back to work, maybe fight late this year, a couple wins and he's right back in the mix. Losses shouldn't be the end of the world, and though I'm no fan of Khan, I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
Malignaggi gets hit too much, he is just flashy, as for Quillin, I like him alot but I need to see him in against better comp. I don't know if Brown can help Khan, who happens to have a shitload of Flaws.
IMO, I wouldnt mind see him rematch Prescott...Confidence builder plus it will be a case of sweet revenge if he were to win.
I could see that happen but I think that would be a step too many backwards as Prescott had a couple losses lately. Since he's fighting in the UK next, Kell Brook would be the perfect match up. Khan is all about big money fights.
Seriously, he needs to fight Morales to get back into the unofficial big leagues. He just lost two in a row and needs to prove he belongs in main events. Why prove yourself against an older fighter? Because it's a perfect measuring stick seeing as Morales is no tomato can, he's just a little "seasoned" and if you get starched by him, well it's over. If he gets beat by a younger fighter we'll just hear more weight drained and lucky punch excuses. Morales via KO by the way. :yep
