Going by popular opinion, Taylor Swift is the greatest living artist. You got all her albums? Boxing doesn't have a clearly defined point system like baseball or football. People see what they want to see. Pac didn't throw 1,000 punches, so he lost. Floyd barely threw and clinched all the way, so he executed his game plan. But the reality is that Pac landed the more significant blows, hurt Floyd 2X, was tit for tat in punches landed, and wasn't the one being screamed at in the corner after the 7th and being warned that the fight was his to lose.
You are right, people see or don’t see what they want. You are blinded by Pac love. I like you as a poster and would expect nothing else than your lack of objectivity regarding Pacquiao.
That's why even though he & his fans have numerously stated he didn't even have to get out of first gear & that Pacquiao was such an easy fight he never ended up giving him a rematch.
Lack of objectivity would be me saying Pac dominated the fight or won with absolute clarity. I've maintained since the night of the fight that neither guy did much, but it's a fact that Pac landed the harder, more significant shots in a stinker. Maybe Floyd did neutralize Pac's offense or maybe Pac's injury did play a significant role in the loss of output (I'm inclined to agree based on the surgeon's testimony), but that doesn't change the facts that Pac was the one who did anything of note.
Give you an example: Inoue was expected to DESTROY Butler in less than 3 rounds. Yet his performance was considered a disappointment by most even though he won every second of every round and ended up destroying Butler in the 11th round. Expectations. But the reality of Butler being insanely tough (along with a utilizing a highly effective mostly watertight defense and resolve to hear the final bell as his main game plan) was completely ignored.
Punchstats disagree with you. You even have posters who admitted they were pulling for Pacquiao and disliked Mayweather on this thread that stated that Mayweather clearly won. I may come across as cocky but even I am capable of realizing that if most people disagree with me, then I could be wrong but whatever works for you.
It applies. I was illustrating how when expectations aren't met, skewed perceptions prevail. You have dickheads actually saying Inoue struggled w/ Butler. You can't struggle with a guy you washed up until the KO.
Pacquiao clearly lost, nothing skewed about that perception. You should argue the Horn fight, a stronger case can be made.
Pacquiao broke Mayweather mentally in 2008 Marquez broke Pacquiao physically in 2012 Maidana broke Mayweather physically in 2014 Arum broke Pacquiao mentally with the Bradley theft Then two washed up midgets pretended that Errol Spence wasn't the G on the block whilst stealing $100m from some casuals who DKSAB. There was only 1 fight that should have been on people's minds in 2015 and that was Fury Wladimir.
Another fine example of perception superseding reality. Horn was supposed to die and he didn't. This content is protected https://ibb.co/LkGnpNg Perception: Pac's head leaking with blood from 2 different locations and covering his face = Pac took a beating This content is protected Reality: 2 headbutts from Horn opened up 2 major cuts; Pac looked fresh as summer daisies after he showered post fight with barely a bruise or any swelling.
Your post is packed with false assumptions though man. I didn't expect anything from Pac in this fight. He actually did better and fought more competitively than I thought he would. I also didn't think the fight was as bad as everyone else. The fight is fine and I do rematch it every now and then even. Pac just got outboxed. Good point about the being hurt happening in two separate rounds. Which would mean I gave Pac two other rounds on top of that. I'll rescore it sometime soon and post my round by round. What's yours? Anyway, there's probably a reason why despite more general boxing fans liking Pac more than Floyd, the majority of them had Mayweather winning handily.
Mayweather steamrolled Pac on the cards by my measure of it. Wasn't even close. I think I had Pac winning 3 rounds. The most disappointed I've ever been in a big fight I ordered on pay-per-view.
Just went through the first 100 fans scorecards on EOTR, where boxing needs post their round by rounds, and from the first 100, about 15 had Pac winning and like 8 had a draw. Actually pretty similar percentages to our poll here. Interesting.
