The one and only untouchable Prince Naseem Hamed! Watching him as a kid, I thought he was the absolute bollox. I was still a kid, naive, and I bought it hook line and sinker.

whoever didn’t like Hamed needs to basically get a life. Pure entertainment.

Same only I was a few years older. The man was a ****ing beast and his dismantling of Sibson almost exclusively with the jab was another enduring memory. Another early fight I remember quite clearly was Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancinin putting in an incredibly brave effort against Alexis Arguello. Cracking action from start to finish and a brutal ending.

Big fan of Arguello after that and was gutted when he lost to Prior. Remember Ali losing to Spinks and the rematch to regain his title, tickled me at the time how much of a toothless handbag Spinks was.

The assumption is that Jack Dempsey was the first boxing famous boxer to influence the imagination of the casuals...

Fame not necessarily the Prime, these are approximate dates that must have brought a lot of people into boxing
(Honorable mention to the Rocky movies series)

Always been boxing fan but early on did not have a favourite as such

However in mid 70s i saved up my pennies and bought a book called Superfists, story of the world heavyweight champions, and discovered what has now been a lifelong interest, boxing history.
Reading within that book about Jack Dempsey did make me a fan of him albeit long after he hung up his gloves, so i would say he was first i truly was fan of.

Back in the 90s guys like Oscar de la Hoya and Mike Tyson were the very first boxers to get me hooked to the sport, so in turn they became the first fighters that I became fans of. Gatti and Roy Jones Jr were also some early favorites of mine when I was younger.

Funny enough, this is coming from a Filipino who followed boxing shortly before a certain legend from my home country started making huge noise and it made me feel even more proud to be a fan of the sport.

Larry Holmes. I vaguely remember watching him stop Scotty LeDoux in '80 with my dad and grandpa. My dad and grandpa were pissed because they knew Scotty and I was cheering for Holmes. I was just a wee, little rugrat and I became obsessed with Holmes from then on. He became appointment viewing for me and my old man. Tommy Hearns soon followed after watching Leonard-Hearns 1 in 81'. Tommy and Larry are my all time favs.
