Stupid title, and therefore bogus poll. Whether we agree or not Thurman won the fight 115-113.

    8-4 porter
He dominated the fight with his jab, mauled him, out threw and out landed him.
7-5 porter if you are a close Thurman relative.

Does anyone care who won Gatti v Ward? There were no losers here. Just enjoy and love the fight they gave us and hope they do it again

    :hi:

You described 4 rounds as 'very close' and hard to score. You gave all 4 of those rounds to Porter. From your scoring and breakdown as it happened you shouldn't have much of a problem if those 4 rounds were given to Thurman, which would make it 8-4 Thurman. So I don't know how you can so adamantly call it a bad decision. I scored it a draw and am ok that Thurman took it. Porter was more consistent and fought his fight more than Thurman's, but Thurman landed way more clean punches.

You're right I did, yet somehow conveniently all 3 judges scored that very hard match to score with several really close rounds 115-113 for Thurman, I wouldn't be beating my chest so much if it weren't completely obvious that Haymon's judges never had even the slightest intention of scoring it for Porter. That match literally screamed SD, and it was unanimous. Couldn't one judge score it a draw even?

Yes, unanimous 7-5 cards gives the impression it was close but clear for Thurman, like Morales-Pac 1, and it sure wasn't. But despite the totals the judges only agreed on 6 rounds. Their scoring was still inconsistent and showed it was a hard fight to score. 7-5 either guy is fine, even if it turned out 7-5 UD. SDs way more often mean one judge got it wrong in an easy fight to score, rather than a fair difference in perspective in a close fight.

Had it a draw. There were some very tough to score rounds. Needs a rematch.

Thurman JUST but clear win imo.

Porter just lacks a bit of class to his work, good boxer but will never be top of his division lacks skills.
