Garcia, he is too crafty boxer for crude fighter like Mathysse. Mathysse still is one tough sob, entertaining guy but Danny knows what Lucas brings and beats him again, more clearly. Joe Calzaghe fought like gay.
Its a fight I would like to see. I was a bit disappointed with Matthysse but that's not taking anything away from Garcia who fought a brilliant fight. Garcia has been written off for most of his career yet he keeps finding a way to win. I would edge towards Garcia in a return but wouldn't rule out a Matthysse KO either. A 2nd fight would be great.
Matthysse slipped once the injury hit him. For me he was getting to Garcia, and he looked uncomfortable taking the shots, though to his credit he did take them well. We have no way of knowing how the first would have played out without the injury, so I'll write that off as a 50/50. That said, I think Garcia is the more versatile of the two, but I'd edge towards Lucas because he can walk Danny down.

Garcia fought a crafty fight against Matthysse. I was convinced he'd get into a brawl and get stopped, but he boxed clever and used distance and movement to avoid most of the big shots, having said that the eye injury did change the fight imo. I thought Matthysse looked like a beaten man once the eye started to close, he seemed to back off and lose heart, Danny on the other hand seemed energised and encouraged and started to look the better fighter. Before the injury i thought Matthysse was starting to press Garcia, he was catching a lot of Danny's shots on the arms and gloves, and was starting to catch Danny with his own shots. I'd still fancy Matthysse in a rematch, but whos to say Danny wouldn't close his eye again ? Has all the makings of a great sequel.
Had it 50/50 going in could go either way again considering I had Mattysse ahead prior to the eye closing and did hurt Garcia more than once
picked Lucas by ko or if distance garcia by UD.. garcia has more boxing skills and he showed it that night.. i truely thought it wouldnt last the distance but it did and it was a fashionable one. Lucas had trouble landing some of his big shots but when he did Danny ate them all.
I'm another who was expecting the Matthysse win, but was very, very impressed with Danny. Even before the eye injury I had in 3-3 or 4-2 in Dannys favour but I still think it coulda gone either way without it. The head-pull rope shenanigans also raised questions, though I think ultimately Danny deserved the win. Apparently there has been rematch suggestions (at least from Matthysses end), and despite the scepticism, it would be a big earner for both fighters, so I certainly wouldn't write it off, I'd also, probably still slightly favor Lucas in a rematch.
If Garcia is warned early in the fight against his constant low blows when things are not going his way then Matthyse wins it.
