As much as I idolize Tommy I can't see him winning this one. I can envisage a start where Tommy keeps Joe on the outside with his piston-like jab and fires in the right hand and long-range left hook to the body as he moves in, keeping Calzaghe off balance and tentative.

Tommy is by far the superior technical boxer and just as fast. Tommy is known for his devastating punching power and if BHop can floor Calzaghe then Hearns certainly can. I think at some point one of those left jab, right cross combo's will ensure that Calzghe hits the deck. He'll be hurt and stunned but his excellent recuparative powers will see him shake off the effects. Then we'll see Joe start to put the pressure on Tommy with a stoppage win around about round 9.

I just don't see Hearns being able to withstand the pressure that Calzaghe can put on him. And Calzaghe can really bang with the left hand in particular, hard enough to put the hurt on Tommy.

Tommy can win on points but it's more likely that he gets rescued in the late rounds by the referee.

But you never know though with Tommy, which is why I love the guy to death. Nobody expected him to demolish Duran and nobody expected him to dominate Hill. I should not be the least bit surprised if Tommy blasted out JC in 2 rounds. I just wouldn't put any money on it.

Styles make fights and HEarns has the fast straight shots, reach, jab, timing and compact punches to take Calazage apart. Calazages weakness is he punches wide and slaps, telegraphs his shots and isn't too good when hes being made to come forward, which would happen here. Calazage won't KO Tommy because he hasn't got enough pop to KO top class fighters

Hearns UD 8-4, Calazages workrate keeps him in it. Kessler is similar in some ways to Hearns but not as goood and Kessler hurt and won the early rounds against Joe before losing heart. I think Hearns can win the UD here

Well you say that but he did put Chris Eubank on the floor. Not many people have done that.

Good point. Even though Eubank was past his best, he was only floored around three times throughout his career. Watson and Collins were the others.

Thompson couldn't even have Eubank tasting the canvas at cruiserweight. My earlier post explains Calzaghe's recent dimishing power.

Calzaghe's jab and immunity to the jab.

    Calzaghe wins.

Nonsense. Calzaghe's power was one of his main attributes until about three years ago. He has fragile hands. He's had to adjust his style. Americans who have only seen him against Lacy, Kessler, and Hopkins have seen a speedster who puts his gloves on an opponent without any real authority.

Calzaghe in his physical prime had enough power to have Hearns down for the full ten count.

    Ridiculous. JC is a natural 168 lbs´er, Hearns was a natural 147 lbs´er or 154 lbs´er. Calzaghe by KO.

I see Hearns with his power doing some damage a puncher like hearns with his chin loves a soft punching workaholic like Calzaghe who is always there to be hit.

Benn dropped him in their first fight too.

Benn never dropped Eubank in either fight. Robbi is correct, only Watson, Collins and Calzaghe have ever floored him.

See what old man Hopkin's did to Calzaghe with a straight right hand?

Hearn's is going to put Calzaghe's head into the crowd.

Iran Barkley went all the way up to heavyweight and fought the like of Gerrie Coatzee. He said no one ever hit him like Tommy Hearn's.

Are we forgetting that Hearn's fought all the way up to Cruiserweight and was KO'ing guys in the final rounds at an extremely advanced age?
