Is Kessler contemplating a move up to LHW? If so, that would be a good fight. Would put the Calzaghe victory over Kessler in perspective. As for Tavoris Cloud... If he keeps delivering and gets a few good scalps under his belt, his fight with Dawson, say 18 months down the road, will be well worth the wait. At present, I think it's still a bit early.
If someone else bursts T-Clouds bubble within the next 18 months (which is what you're implying - right?) it would have been a waste of time for Chad. Should this happen, any of the 6 fights I listed would be better. If T-Cloud is not a bubble, then he should go after one, or more, of the belts and make himself more a force to be reckoned with... At this rate he will soon be a mandatory for one of the trinkets, so it's likely to happen anyway.
Well let's see: He can't fight Garay soon cuz Garay is gonna fight in a few days defending his WBA title in Germany vs Brahmer He can't fight either Diaconu or Johnson who have fights scheduled next month and then scheduled to fight eachother next year Winner of Calzaghe vs Jones will maybe retire or if not retire won't fight him The winner of Pavlik vs Hopkins:if it's Pavlik the fight ain't gonna happen, maybe if it's Hopkins but most likely Bernard won't go for Dawson, his style is wrong for him Leaving Erdei who is free but Dawson doesn't want to travel;Erdei himself doesn't look like he wants to travel Finally the Cloud option looks the most likely with Tavoris being mandatory
NOOOOOOOOOOOO I was NOT calling Tavoris a bubble, I was making a joke about Chad (not a very good or clear one it seems). He is the mandatory for Chads IBF, thats why I was asking do you think he'd wait that long. Some people are saying its too soon, which I can understand, a bout with Henry would be cool too.
Sorry I'm being ******ed... and I forgot about Cloud being mandatory already Ok. I take your point - he would not want to wait. He still might have to, though cos I doubt Chad will take the fight at present. He's shown before he doesn't care that much about trinkets and Cloud is still relatively unproven... And actually, I think, the fight is still too early for T Cloud. The potential reward would be high, but the risk is probably even higher. I've seen too many good prospects ruined by jumping in too deep, too quickly...
He could fight the winner of that. I have a lot of sympathy for Garay, particularly given that he's been screwed so many times in his career, so I hope it would be him. Sadly, judging by the poll results, not many on this forum think this way. Fights have been cancelled before, so never say never. I think both of them would be tempted if they got a serious offer. Not sure about that. If Pavlik and Calzaghe win their fights, then yes. But if Hopkins was to defeat Pavlik, then Pavlik would hardly be the legacy fight Joe claims he wants, right? And not so many other options out there for Calzaghe (and he said he want his last fight to be in Cardiff). So, I'll be rooting for Hopkins in this one... Pavlik is no-go I agree. Bernard hasn't got that many options... Erdei's been making noises about wanting to fight some meaningful opposition. Ok. He's been making them for the last five years, so perhaps I'm getting carried away here... See my post above.
Cloud is a bit of a headhunter at the minute, but he does have skills, I obviously cant agree on the 'pretty easy' part of your comment coz I dont want to!:tong But it would be Risky(for both). Hope he steps up a level in his next fight anyway.
You'r a fan,I know, but if Cloud goes in there and losses now and years later if he gets a lot better and Dawson won't fight him again he will say I already beat this guy,us knowing Cloud is pre-peak when that happened.Agree? Cloud shouls step it up.Shaun George or Chris Henry would be good
Calzaghe, then Johnson/Erdei. Erdei won't happen in a million years though. After beating Johnson (assuming Cal/Erdei want none), go after Diaconu, then up to cruiser for the winner of Adamek/Cunningham.
