I say ali. Duran was great...ali was greater tho. Ali,s one of the few guys i,ve seen that won fights without effort half the time. Roy jones was another one. You see duran and even floyd, pacman etc. All elite fighters...even against lesser opponents they all need to put a decent level of effort in to win. Ali would do it effortlessly at times. Really is a rare sight to behold. Probably why he was picking the rounds....and was mostly right in his prediction...cause he was winning fights without even really trying some of the time. Always looked like he had gears to move up if needed. It changed a bit after the lay off. But for the reason listed i,d say he was the most gifted of the two.

    Good post btw

Top Rank uploaded this on their official YT channel yesterday

There isn't a HW born from their mother who beats this Duran. Prove me wrong. I'll wait

    Truth.
The casuals and many on here don't realize or seem to factor that by the 2000s Ali is a small HW that would lose to Lewis/K bro HWs and wouldn't surprise me many others. He's become a mythic idol like figure to many. 185# beefed up LHW Cooper decked Ali? Imagine what power punches from 2000s (even 90s) HWs would do to him, especially after slowing down a bit.

Ali was the best HW of his era. P2P Duran > Ali and it's not even close.

Yes. Let's put it this way. If Ali was a blown up lightweight would anybody pick him to beat a HW version of Duran like many in this thread, this forum and numerous other rival forums and social media platforms have picked Duran to beat Ali? I think not.

Ali in terms of actual greatness, his name is synonymous with greatness. In terms of accomplishments in the ring, no argument, Duran.

Ali typically enjoyed a size and reach advantage over his opponents. Duran climbed up from LW to beat the WW Muhammed Ali equivalent in SRL.

Smaller guys get the nod on p4p discussions by default. As big a Duran as I am, I believe Ali was a greater fighter. No doubt in my mind

Who is the greater fighter? Duran has the better resume and better wins. He's also the more skilled fighter. But Ali was no slouch in either department. Ali has the edge because he's the best/greatest HW ever and since there is no weight limit in the HW division he represents the best true fighter the world has ever seen. There is no need to call Ali p4p. He's just simply the best.

You can't really compare HW's to lower weight fighters. They don't have to make weight. It's just a whole new ballgame.

That said, Duran is the better fighter, no doubt. He has more skill, he has more power which Ali could have desperately used against Frazier and Norton. He is a master body puncher and Ali wasn't good going to be the body. He's more versatile with his style and doesn't really have a stylistic weakness. I suspect Ali would be deeply troubled by any solid pressure fighter.

Duran is a better fighter. Actually, he's the best fighter I've ever seen and is probably the best fighter we have extensive footage of.

Whitaker has a lot of skill, but isn't as versatile as Duran.
