You have a point. Robinson was a greater MW than Charles was a HW. (I don't think Robinson has a very strong case to be the greatest MW of all time, though.)

And I would say that Charles time at HW wasn't that inferior to Robinson's at MW. Up until his first loss to Walcott he probably beat about as many contenders as many contenders as Robinson did up until his first retirement. The difference was that Ray never got KO'd and had better longevity. But then he was fighting two weight classes lower as well, which would help with both those things.

But if we look at their primes, I might edge towards Charles. Those three wins over Moore are hard to top when they also come with wins over Elmer Ray, Bivins, Oakland Billy Smith, Marshall, Maxim, Lesnevich, Louis and Walcott.

The forum almost stopped. Posting and discussion in Classic dropped immediately by about 90% (some were not even seen for weeks) and it was only after 2-3 weeks of mourning that activity slowing began to rise and some posters started to re-emerge. Dark days.

Alright, well, I tried to locate and delete all my posts but I didn't realize there were this many, and in so many places that were all different. I'm going to be working on this a while. But I have not given up. In the name of my father, and Morlocks, and Escudo, and Foreman Hook and Eslubin, and Laughing Bruno, and MRBILL and Pachilles, who deserves a mention, I will strike this blow. No one blows like I do. Or strikes one. I'll be back.
