Please, I have no time for revisionist ideas. I asked what proof you had Leonard was washed up and you couldn't give any. Your problem is you can't accept reality. I don't have the tough time you and Enquirer have trying to convince me by saying "he would have won if...." Terry Norris This content is protected win and that makes him the better man. He didn't just beat him on a narrow decision. He removed all doubt by toying with him. He wasn't 3-1 without reason. :hey Too late to take it back now. You tell me how Leonard would have beat Terrible Terry. He didnt have the power of Julian Jackson and he couldn't deal with a speedster like Norris. Just look at all the trouble he had in the Hearns fight. He even had problems with Bonds. It took him 11 rounds just for Larry. Ray could never cope with Terry. He took forever looking for openings. This is evident in the Benitez fight. And the problem with Wilfred is he didnt have the speed and wasn't aggressive enough.
hagler was shot and Ray still couldnt win. Only Jackson could beat Terry in his prime. Ray didnt have the tools to do the job that's why he was no match.
I am of the opinion Ray was shot based on his performance not only in the Norris fight, but also against Camacho. I have no intention on proving this, it is the general consenus among Boxing fans. Could you explain to me why you have Terry Norris above Leonard in all-time rankings. Surely you're not about to claim that Norris was the more successful fighter, sporting a better resume and more titles than Leonard? Please tell me this isn't going that far? This doesn't prove that Sugar Ray was a prime fighter.
You know what I'm talking about. I said the Duran fight, there was nothing wrong with his performance so there was nothing wrong with him going into the Norris fight. Terry had many more defenses and won fights he wasn't suppose to win; Mugabi, Leonard, Curry, Taylor. He was the real miracle man.
Norris was an average ATG fighter. If he was around during the early mid-80's he was not have been as dominant. With Hearns, Leonard, Duran, and Benitez all around at 147/154lbs he would have briefly held the title for a year or so then regained it at a later date. McCallum was hovering around during the mid-late 80's, and he defintely would have smashed Norris. Norris was inconsistent during the 90's anyway, but I give him his due for coming back from defeats. That inconsistency would have been worse during the 80's golden era.
If Terry had been around in 81 holding the unified title, 154 pound version, neither Benitez or Leonard would have won that title.
You acknowledge that wins against Duran, Hearns, Benitez, and Hagler are all superior to wins over Taylor, Mugabi, Curry, and shot Leonard? Do you also acknowledge that Leonard won more titles at different weights than Norris was able? I also feel Norris getting starched by Jackson in his prime hurts his legacy? Ray was never stopped in his prime, and the only fighter to beat him during this time was Duran, a defeat that would later be avenged twice. The way I see it, Leonard has the better resume, he won more titles at different weights, was never starched, had everything in terms of ability, and all of this helps me to draw to the conclusion that he should be ahead of Norris in a P4P list. Norris' crushing defeat to Jackson was never avenged, whereas Leonard avenged his only loss in his prime. I know you are a hater of Ray Leonard but I'd be surprised to hear you say Norris had a more impressive career.
Rooster isn't serious with his opinions. Of course he isn't. If he was then he should visit his doctor asap. We call people like Rooster here in Scotland, wind-up merchants.
pay no attention to Robbi. He doesnt know what he's talking about. Name me one fighter ray faced that had Terry's speed. Leonard's career was too short. I'd have shut up by now if Ray had faced and beat Nunn, Jackson, and Norris as well as Hagler in the early 80s but he doesn't have those names and that's what hurt him. Instead of going for live opposition he took an un-athletic type who cant fight. I'm talking about Lalonde then he took on the walking wounded in Hearns then Duran. I lost ALL respect for him. This means he actually did wait for Hagler to be shot to pieces. He has that pattern of doing such things and he also tries to get heavier men to handicap themselves by dropping all the way down to the limit. How can anyone respect a man like that? Now you you know why I feel the way I do about him. The Norris fight, well I knew that was coming. No way a **** like Leonard could ever handle a real man that This content is protected washed up. And who cares about Leonard's other titles? He didnt defend them. Anyone could beat kalule he's so damn slow and hittable, can't punch worth a damn. Davey moore with his ten pro fights knocked him out. And Hagler, they gave him that title. And who gets two titles in one night. I mean besides leonard?
Leonard and his stupid meaningless titles. Roy Jones is a true multiple title champion unlike that fraud leonard. When Jones wins a title he takes over the division, beats it's second fighter, then dominates. Leonard can't and never did. To place leonard over Jones is insane.
