I voted Pavlik. I think it may go to UD, both fighters being a bit more cautious. Kelly's going to be able to get his jab off more in this fight and begin setting up straight rights that will take their toll on Taylor. I think Taylor's going to decline in the later rounds and not trying to get in dangers way but Kelly's workrate will go up taking round after round. I doubt Taylor will go in with all guns blazing in the first few rounds (or more that it's not his gameplan) and try to conserve energy. This conservation of energy will lead to less output and Kelly will take rounds. I don't think the end stretch of the fight will be much change as Taylor will be drained from taking too many right hands, which he'll have problems avoiding as well as turning with them. If Taylor does come out in the beginning out the fight looking for a KO, he's either made one hell of a gamble or shows that he cannot stick to a plan in the ring. It will be interesting to see how this fight turns out, but my opinion will stay the same til the first bell.
No doubt Taylor will come hungry for redemption and is still dangerous but I feel that he is confused as to what kind of fighter(boxer, counter puncher, brawler) he wants to be and Pavlik will beat him again.
I agree with the fact that Taylor may over analyze certain situations and get caught in places he will not expect to be caught.
Pavlik KO5.....Taylors hitting a tire with a bat and got the trainer that helped develop all those bad habits....all too sad really...I'm scared for Jermain
I just have a feeling that Taylor wins this fight and maybe stops Pavlik. In my opinion, Taylor stopped being hungry once he had his title and became enamored with the celebrity lifestyle. Maybe that's why he didn't follow instructions and sharpen his skills whatsoever. Taylor has to win this or his career is done. Hopefully he recognizes it.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to pick both fighters. Both fighters should be given credit for this, unfortunately.. if Taylor loses, he'll be slagged on even worse on here, but the truth of the matter is that Taylor never ducked a challenge. So where does all the hate come from? Him fighting very live, rare & unique opponents that would give anyone a stylistic nightmare? or the fact that he's had some close calls and decisively won against a legend in Hopkins? Taylor AND Pavlik are both great men for this sport:happy
In the first fight Jack Leow gave Pavlik some instructions that say pretty much everything there is to say. Leow said, "It's a basic ****in' fight with this kid! Jab, right hand; simple!" A bit later Leow said, "Double the jab, go to the body." That's all kelly really needed to beat JT. Pavlik does an incredible job of using his jab to setup the right hand. Taylor simply could not avoid Pavlik's jab often enough to keep from eating way to many right hands. The beginning of the end came in THE MIDDLE OF THE RING when kelly landed a text book perfect 1-2. That combination drove JT back against the ropes where Kelly used his highly under-rated footwork to turn the ring into a freaking phone booth, and knock Taylor out. Is the added weight an issue? YES! and it favors Kelly 100 fold. Pavlik is by far the bigger man. He is taller with broader shoulders, and is just generally bigger than JT all the way around. More over, JT has rarely ever fought above 160. His heaviest opponent was Alex Rios who weighed in at 164 1/2. Kelly has fought above 160 twelve times, and his heaviest opponent was Eric Olds who weighed 170. Jermain will be carrying the extra weight for the first time while Pav has spent more than one third of his career fighting above the middleweight limit. JT will be like the proverbial fish out of water, but pavlik will just move into his home away from home! In every recent interview JT has given numerous indicators that he is betting everything on recreating round 2 of the first fight. "I almost had him out of there," has become his mantra. The problem is that Pavlik knows, and has openly admitted, that he did something stupid, and that it created serious problems. In the upcoming rematch Taylor will bull rush Pavlik at the opening bell just like he did in the first fight. Pavlik will still win round 1, just like last time. Kelly won't stick his chin out again, so there will be no recreating round 2 for Jermain. You can look for the same fight we saw last time, only there won't be a round 2 type debacle, so it ends in 5 instead of 7:deal Boo
This fight will be as exciting and as SURPRISING as the first one.. either a KO by Pavlik or by TAYLOR. :thumbsup
