I fancied Canelo the first time and I even fancy him stronger in the rematch. The first fight proved Canelo is the better technical boxer with more variety. Canelo can improve his fitness, conditioning and stamina. If Canelo comes with GGG’s pace better this time then it’s going to be a long night for GGG.
Interesting that after 50 fights people assume Canelo will suddenly be able to develop much improved stamina, as if he hadn't tried before.
I picked him last time because I thought he'd land the more eye-catching shots, and thought the fight could have gone either way (though I wanted GGG to win). I think the second time Canelo has more room and ability to improve while Golovkin will be a bit older.
I’m picking Canelo to win again. There’s a few good reasons. 1. He’s already tasted the power. This is huge. 2. He’s the money train it takes a crazy type of performance derail these kinda fighters. 3. He’s knows what he did wrong in the first fight and he knows he only has to be slightly better to get the nod. 4. GGG has aged as much has he says he gonna pressure him the whole time it’s not likely especially if Canelo is moving.
I try to be a fan of the sport over a fan of the boxer in order to score fairly. I will openly admit I was not happy when Canelo side stepped GGG and gave up his belt so I wanted GGG to lay the kid out but the exact opposite went down. Canelo impressed the sh/t out of me in that first match and I expect him to do even better this time around. Some guys in here can’t look past who they like or dislike to call a fair fight IMO
Canelo first time, Canelo this time. To be honest it's only because soy hispano. I think the japanese call it tatemae in their culture. Ours is similar and y'all already know, we back the home team as far as the public is concerned. It's a cop-out, but not one I use often. I wasn't real sure who to go with the first time but Canelo is NA Hispanic and 3G Eurasian so I just went with him and since he looked pretty good I don't feel any reason to change. I think it's interesting y'all see so many parallels in each fighter and their resumes. I don't honestly think of 3G as analogous with anyone Canelo has faced and I don't see anyone of 3G's resume that's very similar to Canelo.
You realize that a boxer from one fight into the next does have some measure of control over their own stamina, right? It's called pacing.
Except that Álvarez is the only man to have fought a rematch between them? (Miguel Vázquez, who insists he was robbed the first time but concedes being defeated fair and square in the return engagement) Except that Álvarez has been improving from a talented but green fighter to a world class one in the same eight year period (since he was rocked by Jose Cotto) that corresponds with Golovkin's championship run and encompasses the beginning, middle and current last vapor-trail exiting stages of his prime? But yeah, sure, "why not" works. Bet you were captain of the debate team. Good game.
