Did you see the fight? Toney was fat as ****. The guy was always having trouble making weight. Toney turned up and was completely disinterested.Great result for Drake but the bottom line is the guy was a nobody.I remember when he cam to Wembely and fought Virgil Hill if i rememeber rightly it was another shut out.

As for Griffin he was only part of the 175 merry go round. His 1st victory over RJJ was completely shallow and not even a remote indicator of the true result.Up until when RJJ punched him when he was down the guy was getting clowned. What does it sayt about RJJ who obliterated him before Darius?

    Both their faughlts.

Roy was screwed once overseas, and DM didn't want that to happen to him I guess.

Nevertheless, Griffin in his prime was a pretty good LHW. And anyone who beats Toney, no matter what shape he's in, is pretty good IMO. That's all i'm saying.

DM was the linear champ when you look back at history and see who held the title that Conn, Moore, Foster and Spinks held he is there not Roy. It's both their fault Roy was the star in US while DM was the star in Germany considering Roy found time to fight Reggie Johnson and co he should have fought the linear champ he would have won.

Dm clearly never wanted to fight Jones, I think that its was clear to all the US fans even the ones that hated Jones. I know for a FACT that HBO NOT Jones offered DM a name your price fight with Jones and they never responded.

Jones never thought that he needed to fight DM, he never thought that Dm was worth the time. Dm's team made some crappy offer to Jones of 5 million to come to Germany and fight, which wasnt a big deal since Jones was making 5+ million to fight guys like Telesco at home. No real motivation there.

I voted BOTH for those reason. Its a fight that should have happened and neither guy wanted or was willing to make the fight. For different reasons. For Dm he was happy fighting bum after bum and Jones leftovers all the while telling his fans that the next fight would be the big fight. They bought it, and keep laying down hard earned money to watch him fight the Ky-Da lang of the boxing world, before losing handily to a Jones leftover. Jones who by that points was losing interest in boxing and was looking for things that got his blood pumping and to him that wasnt a fight with Dm who he saw as less then average, and not a mandated guy in order to keep the belts that he loved so much

In the end I really think that it hurt DM more then it did Jones, for the fact that Dm lost sooo badly to Gonzalez. That really put an end to the DM train and since very few even speak his name.

Well, DM fought his share of bums, but he ain't no Sven Ottke. You can't compare him to Sven Ottke.

DM was tough, he wasn't afraid mixing it up and going to war and had pretty good boxing skills in his prime. A very good fighter, no HOFer, but still very good.

He beat a lot of bums, but also some very good competition, most notably Virgil Hill, and Griffin, and also underrated Roccigiani (although he was losing the first fight before the disqualification)

Dariusz Michalczewski needed this fight a lot more than Jones.

In the end Jones is remembered as an ATG with a solid legacy, and DM, while having a decent legacy himself is more of an after-thought to Jones.
