Floyd and it's not close in my opinion.

True....Kessler was a huge favorite against Ward....and I never understood why, the fight went pretty much as expected

IMO Kessler was the product of Euro hype

If you've read my comments, you know that we're on the same page.

Rocky wasn't anywhere near as gifted as the other guys, and he was completely outsized and outweighed in almost every fight.

By choosing Rocky, you're actually paying the other fighters a huge compliment.

But what about the huge disadvantages that Rocky had to overcome?

Apologies for bringing this back up but wouldn't it be fairer to compare Louis to DLH. Pac is still probably the best WW now Floyd has retired. Just a thought.

Kessler was very good, but who was his best win before he met Joe?

And where does he place historically at SMW?

How would he have fared at the weight in the 90's?

I rate him, but I've never been 100% sold on him (contradictory I know!).

Lol at the rationale being used to pick Marciano over mayweather. He gets more credit because he had stubby arms and was easy to hit? Floyd never beat an atg in his prime? I'm sorry but what atg heavy did Marciano beat in his prime? Marcianos record is full of journeymen and old washed up fighters. It's clear who had the better opposition. It's clear who lost less total rounds

What are you talking about? he was a heavyweight and fought heavyweights...there is no logic to rank him ahead of Mayweather

It's very subjective, because there's two ways to look at it:

    1. Floyd's resume is littered with great fighters, whereas Rocky's isn't.

    2. Rocky wasn't a great boxer, and he was also outweighed and completely outsized in the majority of his fights.

The way I see it, Floyd's resume was levels above, and as a boxer, Floyd is levels above. But Rocky's run to 49-0 was much more difficult in my opinion. Again, he wasn't as gifted and he was undersized.

The point is, in the modern era, he would never have been a HW. A HW with a 68" reach is absolutely crazy.

I don't rank him over Floyd as a fighter.

Nor do I rank his resume over Floyd's.

The logic is, due to Rocky's circumstances, I believe that his undefeated run of 49-0 was more impressive than Floyd's. I think it was a bigger achievement. Rocky had no business fighting at HW being that size.

Marciano 49-0 run was as legitimate as any undefeated long run (engineered matchmaking), to say they are equal is fair :smoke

Floyd will go to 50-0-0-0 & beyond, the TBE saga its not over yet :nono

Fmj is far and away the greatest record ever.
Non of the others can claim 1/10 of what fmj accomplished.

No one, and I mean NO ONE beat every top fighter around his weight for 2 straight decades. Without losing I facking time. Even if he had 5 losses, fighting every top fighter for 2 facking decades has never been close to attempted.

Insane when one really ****yzes it
