Yes I've read through the thread the thread some good points made against Jones and excellent posts by some but don't see how I'm a troll when everything I've said is fact and can be backed up by many of experts not just thread that people make on their own bias opinions.

It's hard to get through to some people who are blatantly ignorant so why try thats why my last few posts have been off topic and just taking the ****.

:patsch Yet I still give zod credit for his research. I admit I was wrong on a few things earlier but I always give credit to zod and never disposed him. Always called him a great poster and Scar still is that too despite being wrong. We all are on a few occassions.

Wouldn't say "ass handed to him". Loudon like you said handled the debate from a non-biased perspective as did zod and settled the debate like men. Glass jawed jokers are too biased against Jones to really add anything. I like ko artist as he seems to be the only neutral member from team elite and at least him and bailey don't resort to insulting posters whne trying to get a point across.

To put it simply i dont think everyone so much as hates Jones Jr, it is more to do with the resentment created by the issue that he seems immune to criticism reserved for other fighters, namingly opposition faced.

    General,

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm not an expert on weight cutting, and most of my replies to Metal on the subject, were just to wind him up, because he gets on my nerves ha! I've seen the Sweet Science numerous times, and it implies that he actually weighed nearer to 200 than 193. Now I know he didn't lose 25 pounds of pure muscle, but it wasn't 25 pounds of fat either. But the fact is, it's easier to put on the weight than it is to take it off. So he either lost 6 pounds of muscle or 13 pounds of muscle. But the fact is, he was a solid 193-200 pounds, and he went down to 175.

Now I know he normally went into camp just under 190, and after a 7 week camp he'd lost a bit of his walking around bodyfat that he'd gained. But after Ruiz, he weighed just over his normal walking around weight, but it was solid mass. Now it may have been 6, it may have been 13, but he'd never been in that situation before. We know other fighters have moved up and down divisions, but it affects everyone differently. He was 34, and he clearly struggled in my opinion, to get from the Ruiz weight down for Tarver. I don't see why he'd lie. He said those 25 pounds that he sweated was the hardest thing he's ever done.

Like you say, it may not have been a lot of muscle, but burning even a few pounds of muscle at 34, when you've never done it before, can be harmful. Like I say, I've heard Coach Merk on at numerous occasions say that he did nothing much but run for a few months, before he resumed his normal training in the gym. Apparently he kept the weight on for a while after Ruiz, because he wanted a Tyson fight, and when it fell through, apparently he had to rush to get the weight off. Now that's only what I've heard. Maybe they were exaggerating, I don't know?

Your previous post stated that Roy only lost 6 pounds but Tarver lost 25 pounds? Tarver obviously didn't lose 25 pounds of muscle, and it wasn't 25 pounds of fat. So like Roy, it must have been a mixture of the two. But the fact is, they both claimed to have really struggled to get back down, and I've no reason not to believe them. they might have exaggerated their difficulties, but we don't know, because we weren't there.

It's clear that Roy didn't really want to get into the ring with Tarver, he knew he'd be a hard nights work. But my point was, if he really had've not wanted to face him, he wouldn't. We know from your other posts, that he didn't want to face Nunn and Collins. He could have faced Byrd at heavy, or he could have fought at Cruiser. So I know he wasn't desperate to get in the ring with Tarver, but I think after the Post Ruiz press conference, I think he knew he had to fight him. But if Roy doesn't want to do something, he won't do it.

We don't know what purse split he was asking for against Lennox. But I think Roy was genuine when he approached him. I think the reason he approached him, is because after the Ruiz fight, and before his fight with Vitali, Lennox seemed up for the fight. your links read to me as though Lennox thought it would be a huge payday for an easy nights work. But after he struggled with Vitali, he didn't want to fight again.

I don't agree that Ruiz was a cherry pick. Because we know that Roy had talks with Evander before his final fight with Ruiz in 2002. If Evander had've beaten Ruiz, Roy and Evander would have fought at some point in 2003. After Ruiz had won, Evander's offer was still on the table, and Roy turned it down. There's vid on youtube that goes into more detail. Roy said, he wouldn't get any credit beating Evander at that point. So he asked Murad to make a Ruiz fight. So, when Roy decided he was moving up in 2002, he didn't think he was going to fight Ruiz. People make out, that he sat back, studied all the heavies, then picked Ruiz. It wasn't like that. He wanted Evander, and they apparently had a verbal agreement.

We know that Roy contemplated fighting Evander after Ruiz, but I don't think he was serious, and that's why the purse split was ridiculous. Tua would have been a dangerous fight for him. If you think he'd have been knocked out, fair enough, but Tua wasn't a huge name and a huge payday. If king and Tyson could have worked something out with Shelley Finkle, Roy would have loved that fight. Who wouldn't last 2 rounds? Roy? You're kidding, Mike at that point was finished. I think Roy would have had an easy night with him, honestly. Danny Williams knocked him out less than a year later.

    Great debate.

    Regards, Loudon.
