Why All The Jones Jr Haters

Jones said that the only man he could get motivated to fight in 1995/96 was Nigel Benn but Don King stopped that because he wanted to promote Roy Jones again why tie in with a promoter as notorious as Don King and being beat by Sugar Boy Malinga killed it off completely. No myth.. Fact!

Jones and Mcclellen were on a collision course Jones had just established himself as a big name after the Toney fight and Mcclellen likewise after the Jackson fight but noone expected him to be defeated by Benn never mind suffer such horrible injurys. No myth.. Fact!

Jones offered Hopkins a huge payday in the early 00s and he turned it down numerous time! Why should Roy split 50/50 with a man he'd already beat especially when Jones was a far bigger name and he would probably's have to move down a weight to fight Hopkins. Hopkins only decided to move up to Light Heavy when Jones was on his last knees. Again can easily be proved

Jones mentioned Dariusz Michalczewski in 2000 and 2002 in a post fight interview hoping for a deal to fight him but again Dariusz wouldn't budge and why should Roy budge he was P4P number one you don't just get voted fighter of the decade for nothing.

Chris Eubank wasn't interested but he would of fought had Jones ever become a mandatory. Steve Collins did turn down a big money offer to fight Jones but I do admit there was no reason why Jones/Nunn shouldn't have happened.

To the glass jaw theory is nonsense too would you say Sugar Ray Leonard had a glass jaw after being knocked down by Kevin Howard? Or Ali after being knocked down by Sonny Banks? Nope.. Like I've said you can take a punch a hell of a lot better when your in the 20s and in mint condition than in your mid thirties and weightdrained.

To say Jones wasn't a big name at this time you really should question why you get involved in talking about boxing its just plain ignorance

 

Yes calzaghe went to the US at the right time! he fought nearly got beat against hopkins and Roy Jones was just a shell of himself at that time. Joe will admit that himself

Of course they on a collision course there is such a thing as waiting to promote a big fight when the time is right EG Hearns Leonard, Dundee turned Hearns down to let the fight get juicy. Let the people watch Mcclellen KO every opponent in round 1-3 and watch Roy Jones dazzle his opponents it was a perfect promotion for a big big fight and the Analysts were talking about it after fights. The benn fight obviously ended all that.
