Terry, it's pretty hard to defend Haye's approach since arriving on the heavyweight scene.

The amount of noise he made, and the complete disrespect he showed to the Klitschko brothers, turned a few heads to say the least. Here he was, vowing to do everything under the sun to Wladimir and Vitali, and inject the much needed charisma in to a dismal heavyweight division. Finally we had something to get excited about.

Well it's been almost a year since, and we've had none of those fights he promised us. Instead, we're being told he's facing Audley Harrisson. :verysad

I have a 65 year old friend who used to be a big boxing fan. He says it may stem from the fact that in the past, British fighters who were touted as serious contenders to their American counterparts were almost always defeated in the most embarassing fashion. I'm only 38 years old, so the only one I remember a fight like that was Hagler-Minter.

the competition is so fierce in America that by the time a fighter gets to the stage where he stands out and is hyped, he is already substantiated. Look at guys like Bradley and Alexander who are less hyped in the USA than a guy like Mitchell in the UK.

Thats fair, but still, don't make a generalization about us "yanks" not knowing about geography. Make your point without being arrogant and condescending. That hubris is mainly why Brits are on the butt of jokes. Look at the fighters Terry mentioned, Khan, Haye, and Froch, all are known as being pretty damn cocky, as opposed to someone like Ward, Pavlik, or even Mosely.

I say more that we support our fighters. Honestly i think its more jealousy cause fighters in UK and Germany draw large crowds while many american fighters can't and they have great away support (which is something from what i have seen americans don't do). Theres nothing wrong with support, i haven't heard many overhype Khan. Even Haye, all they say is that he has a chance v the klits; which he does if he ever makes it to the ring with the them lol.

Thats why i would love to see more american fighters fight in the UK many would draw large numbers here an all.

The fact of the matter is Brits are far less likely to criticize their own fighters than Americans are, and that to me makes them biased. Just look at Mayweather, as many Americans love him as hate him, you just don't see that as much with top British fighters.

Fair enough, but was it necessarily to immediately retaliate with an insinuation that because I am American, I have a poor grasp of geography? Instead of attacking me and my country off the bat, you could have just called me a dumbass. And that would have been enough

And after their losses we basically treat them like piece of crap bums. It would have been hard not to hype Judah, the man had obvious talent. But since his career has panned out to be subpar, we don't hype him in the same way.

Eeerr no....Audley, Khan, Bruno (yes he did get criticised), Eubank, Calzaghe so thats crap. They have all been criticised.

And how can anyone critcise Mayweathers boxing skills if thats what you meant; seeing as he is one of the best fighters in the last 20 years. You can criticise choice of opponent or attitude, but not skill.

we respect our boxers more, we respect boxers more overall than americans do, why do you think when top american boxers come over to england they all say they were treated better by the brits than people in their country?

    brits just respect boxers more.
