Why are so many British champions chinless?

Haye has my friend, but I agree chin isn't regional. Also Haye at crusier has been weight drained for some of his fights.

What a ******ed thread. There are countless iron chinned fighters who were not skilled enough to be world famous fighters.
    As for the rest...

Hamed, Eubank, Calzaghe are three big names who were not. Now look at the likes of Hatton, Lewis, Woods, Witter...who is chinless? Lewis took big shots from Tua, Mercer, Vitali, Bruno....

Hatton has been in with Tsyzu, Tackie, Phillips, Castillo... Witter has never been floored and fought Harris, Zab and other good punchers. Woods has been stopped by a phenomenon in RJJ.

What about Reid or Ingle? Or right now guys like Froch?

It is plain stupid, because I could point to numerous US fighters with crap chins and you are talking about guys who by and large have decent chins with a few that are dodgy. But RJJ could be called a dodgy chin, so could Pavlik or Dawson in todays game if you want to be picky.

The notion that "British boxers have straight upright style" and lumping us and European boxers together.

I do not know. I did not see Haye's last fight, but I heard he was stung in round one. Is this true?

There used to be a put down British term called “Chinless Wonder ", but it was more of a class thing directed at the nobles. Perhaps British fighters have an inferiority complex when it comes to taking punches on the world-class level?
