That's where your erroneous P4P rankings come from. An undefeated record doesn't mean anything, who you have beaten on that undefeated record is what counts. Julio Cesar Chavez despite having the longest undefeated streak in the history of boxing wasn't recognized until he fought Rosario. I bet at the time of Chavez you would be ranking him as the greatest of all-time.
No I don't believe hype, your not an ******* like most be you are unbelievably basic, do you not have eyes? If I was basic like that Canelo and Broner would be in my p40, where do you have Ward?
If your not biased/basic why would take into account Ward's undefeated status? It literally has zero weight all on it's own. It depends on who he has beat and how well he has done against them. Marciano for example is usually overrated because of his undefeated status, but he hasn't destroyed everyone he has faced. He was being outboxed by Walcott for 13 rounds before Marciano landed a very good right hand, so we can infer he was around Walcott's level who while very good himself was not very amazing. Ward is a good fighter, but he still has to have a couple of good fights to be better than a guy like Marquez. Here's my Top 5 P4P list: 1. Floyd Mayweather 2. Juan Marquez 3. Andre Ward 4. Guillermo Rigondeaux 5. Sergio Martinez I'm having a tough time deciding between Rigondeaux being Top 4 and Martinez being 5. I might be able to switch those two. I think Rigondeaux has to have 2-3 more good fights against top boxer's and he might be better than Ward. But as of now, he only has 1 really good win against an top 10 P4P.
Not a bad argument but undefeated with no threats has value why do you think 90 percent put Ward above JMM? By the way you are trying to tear down Ward down over 1 spot, if Ward fights 7 more years and doesn't lose he's an ATG. You seem to think I'm blinded by undefeated but like I said he's not Canelo.
I find it hard to see Pacquiao as being #3 at the time, he was nearly universally the #1 prior to the 3rd Marquez fight. The Mayweather fight with Marquez happened years ago, you don't just hand over your wins to someone who beat you prior and stack them above you. If you dethrone the #1, you deserve their spot at the time. Ward not having lost shouldn't give him priority when his accomplishments don't measure up. I had Donaire below Ward and Mayweather and Martinez, probably 5 or 6.
Let me get this straight. Their are people in here saying who has Ward beaten and making excuses for his dominate wins yet people think Rigo, with 12 fights, is right behind him in the p4p list? The same Rigo who has struggled with lesser opponents and hasn't quite proved himself with enough top level competition. Ok...whatever.
I don't think 90% of people have Ward over Juan Marquez, set up a poll on a new thread and we can test that out. More people (over 50%) might rate him over Marquez but definitely not 90%. If he fights for 7 more years and fights bums and is undefeated then no he's not an ATG. If he fights 7 more years and fights top competition and remains undefeated then yes I would say he's an ATG.
If Bradley beat Marquez would you be surprised? Is there anyone between 160-175 you would favor over Ward? To me this matters alot. If JMM was at 147 I'd favor many welters against him, I truly value Ward p4p.
Rigondeaux beat a top 5 P4P fighter. Ward has not beaten anyone like this at all. Yes he has beaten good opposition and has dominated them relatively well, but it's just not on the level of other fighters in the other divisions.
So 1 good win with some lesser performances against lesser opposition is better then cleaning out your division and dominating good fighters then beating the best fighter a division above you?
