Have I missed something here? Surely he just likes basketball - which is pretty big in the UK (going to the Wizards next week, even though it's the only one I don't really like - baseball is a great sport, NFL (off to the Redskins on Mon) is good, and ice hockey ok) and has pix of some great fightr in his gym. I know the thread is a pisstake, but bloody hell...

What's with the yanks and Brits on here? It's like we've all decided that they're god-fearing, gun toting moose wranglers and they've decided that we brush our teeth only after we've bitten into a rival football hooligan (though that would be twice a day).

what and wearing an incredible load of padding and throwing a ball isnt? if the american footballers played rugby theyd **** themselves, no padding, 2 40 minute halfs without any shitty timeouts

Jordan transcends his sport, he is a symbol of greatness, dare I say the best athlete ever ? Not a whole lot will disagree with that statement.

I cannot agree with or deny that claim. I cannot watch basketball for more than ten minutes without slipping into a coma. I am just amazed that it's so popular in the US when boxing is on the wane.

Then again, 'sports' such as baseball, American Football, WWF (or whatever it's latest re-incarnation is) and NASCAR are also quite popular I believe. Horses for courses I suppose.:think

Great athlete, arguably not even the greatest basketball player though. He won 6 NBA titles in his career. Bill Russell won 11 NBA titles in 13 years. After winning his 1st or second title a guy named Wilt Chamberlin came into the league and rewrote all of the record books for scoring and rebounding and by most observers, it was only a matter of time before he would take over the league as his own. Probelm was, Russell never let Wilt beat him except once in 67'. Then in 68' Russell and his old team came back to win again, and did the same in 69' against the LA Lakers who had 3 of the greatest players ever: Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, and Wilt.
