Some people are better speakers than others. Muhammad Ali was a terrible student in high school. Almost flunked out. Juan Diaz is college educated, but doesn't sound like the smartest guy when he speaks. Some people are just articulate and some aren't.
The ability to speak well enough to captivate and attract massive audiences regardless of sensible speech is a gift in itself. Ali could talk absolute trash and it would sound like he's educating the public. When he spoke sensible stuff, he was even more entertaining. That's a natural gift.
No, its not a natural gift. He worked at it. The problem with most boxing fans is that you guys do not understand how science works. You believe fighters are natural, they are born champions and there is no science behind it. Similarly, speaking is the same way. Your environment affects how you speak. Ali grew up in a church, raised by both parents who spoke well. In addition, he hung out with Malcolm x and nation of Islam, people who believed in education. Most humans generally presume that we are fixed and cannot change. Whether it is a behavior or skill. The truth is that he worked on speaking skills, like he worked on his boxing. He was not born great.
By far...and so was Ken Norton and George Foreman. Ali was glib mostly, not especially intelligent. Don't confuse being glib with being intelligent.
