Add to the fact that the Fishman beat up Canelo's brother and you have an easy-to-sell grudge match. What can be more natural than that. Cinco de Mayo at MSG would be sold out. Or even Dallas Stadium.

15,000 canelo fans and 150 trout fans.Thats how gbp sees this.If it makes no money it makes no sense. This will be the death of the sport as we know it.

There should be a tournament at 154 so no one would ***** anymore.

i like the fight, i think it will raise canelos stock, i just dont think there would be much interest in it outside of the hardcore crowd.

I dont think anyone here would bypass the option to avenge their brothers loss.

The fight will probably be made anyway. It's an easier fight for Canelo and more money. That's a no-brainer. If Cotto was getting pushed around by Trout, Canelo will have his way with him and believe me Cotto will know what body punches are.

Cotto quits before 8th round! I predict a liver shot KO.

Probably because the fight was over.

Would Canelo compete in this tournament?

That would be the ideal scenario. A 154lb tournament.

    Canelo
    Trout
    Lara
    Martirosyan
    Molina
    Bundrage
    Kirkland
    Angulo

Single elimination. Two fights per card. Random draw.

    Sample Scenario:

    May Card:
    Canelo vs Trout -------- Canelo
    Angulo vs Kirkland ---------Angulo

    April Card:
    Lara vs Martirosyan ---------Lara
    Bundrage vs Molina ---------Molina

    September Card:
    Canelo vs Lara -------Canelo
    Angulo vs Molina --------Angulo

    December Card:
    Canelo vs Angulo ------Canelo

We'd know who the best is by the end of the year.

Thats certainly possible. When Marquez beat MAB, Pacquiao chose to fight the loser.
    It happens alot in boxing.
People still want to see Mayweather-Pacquiao even though Pacquiao has been exposed by Marquez.
If Marquez beats Pacquiao again this coming saturday, people will still want to see a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.

The thing with boxing is not what the better matchup is, but which name is more recognizeable.

It's prize fighting, Trout doesn't offer anything that would be considered a prize for Canelo. Trout didn't look impressive in there, it was more about how Cotto failed to get off. Canelo wants big names, Chavez jr. Martinez, Mayweather, Cotto before they retire. He wants money!!!!! Who cares about belts nowadays??
