Why did Cotto never fight Hatton?

Because Hatton was saving his best for Lazcano.

And Cotto needed to be fit for Alfonso Gomez.

Absolutely astounding logic. Care to debate Hatton vs Vitali at 140?

    Look at Cotto then.

    Look at Cotto now.

Tell me there isn't a big difference.

Exactley my point, although I admit I didn't portray it very well at all. In answer to your previous question though, 7lbs does make a massive difference, especially to Hatton, who looks weak and lathargic at 147, while strong, fast and aggresive at 140.

You'd have to ask Hatton and his people why he did not want any.....Portion of an interview from 2007:

    http://www.hbo.com/boxing/events/2007/0609_cotto_judah/columns/gottlieb_cotto.html

Judah would not have been Cotto's most dangerous foe to date had Trampler found a way to get Ricky Hatton into the ring. Trampler revealed for the first time that Top Rank had been trying to make a Hatton-Cotto fight happen at junior welterweight.

"For the last two years, Cotto has been willing to fight Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton at what ever weight," Trampler said. "Get this straight: Cotto ducks nobody. Here's a scoop for you: there were numerous discussions with the Hatton people, but Ricky went up to 147 and then came back down. Miguel is staying at welterweight. But Hatton knows where to find Cotto when he wants to get it on. Floyd is the most skilled boxer in the world, an immensely talented athlete, but he won't beat Miguel Cotto."

Of course. Shane DLH Cotto Zab all made the jump with no problem. I presume there skills as fighters had nothing to do with it..

Cotto is a skeleton of a fighter at 140 and no where near the fighter he is at 147. He is much weaker at 140, I say Hatton of a few years ago takes it.
