You really think a comment about teeth in any way impacted Usyk? A two-weight undefeated world champion who's happy to travel to his opponent's backyard fight after fight after fight? That's not really evidence of a weak mind is it? Usyk isn't short of coin. I'm sure he could have 'fixed' his teeth if they were such an issue for him that he'd get upset when someone points out his gap. Get real, it's all pantomime. Fury was being 'Fury' and Usyk played the cold-eye warrior in response. They both played their roles and then shook hands on a job well done. Put it this way, Usyk doesn't take Fury's comments as seriously as the kind of fan who laps them up. It's all about motivating casuals to be interested...
Yes, but the whole point about being ringside was to call out Fury, or at least exchange a few words. Anything basic would've done it, except saying nothing. Apollo Creed had Uncle Sam "I want you", Drago had "You will lose", lol, but Usik came brought nothing of his usual wit or anything. Round 1 goes to Fury, but Usyk can redeem himself, can not, not say anything though.
Agreed, if Usyk goes through the build up looking like a deer in headlights for months then the whole thing will overwhelm him. Don't care what anyone says, Usyk is still human and I think he looked rattled and not sure what to do on Saturday.
It’s all pantomime and people who know better fall for it every single time. Fury in the post fight was being truthful - he was respectful towards Usyk and hopes the fight can be made. The trash talk stuff does it’s job - it builds momentum and gets millions or views on social media. Users of this forum, bar a couple, should know better really.
Agreed the only genuine animosity in a fight recently was between wilder and fury and even then that was nearly all from Wilder, as he appeared to have his own little world shattered by the losses. After fury lays waste to Usyk, there will be pictures of them having a beer together after the fight.
Because Fury is confident enough in his skills to beat Usyk when it matters. It was great to see Fury in such good spirits and talking about boxing in a positive way in his post fight presser. A long way since that disturbing gloves or off with Wlad for their rematch that never happened
Because he's a bipolar showman. One minute he's dissing you, the next he's commending you. He's very impulsive & inconsistent. Can't take him too seriously. All you can do is laugh.
Because Fury is genuinely a good guy. The goofy character he pretends to be with the crazy clothes, outrageous statements and wild behavior is an act to sell fights. He’s like a pro wrestler when the camera is in his face. Usyk understands it and probably appreciates the extra money Fury’s behavior generates. Look at the big talkers, Mcgregor, Floyd, Ali, etc. Fans gravitate towards showmen, especially casual fans. End of the day, some of these guys want to do what works. Usyk will never be one of those guys but I think they are needed in these types of sports. Most fans are casuals and casuals fall for this behavior.
