well ali hated that frazier walked around with his title and frazier felt he was the real champ

but it think the majority of the trash talk was to sell the fight and without the creation of the rivalry these fights would not have become bigger than the sport itself

I love Ali and I love Frazier ...... but I can 100% understand Fraziers bitterness. He helped a fellow athlete in times of trouble, only for that athlete to insult your family, call you a traitor to your race, a sellout, ridiculed his talent, his worth as a human being and never gave him any credit.

Why did Joe frazier and Muhammad Ali hate each other?

Because Ali was a total *******. Just a really lousy human being all around:

    A traitor to his friend.
An adulterer who flaunted his improprieties.
A draft dodger (that BS about not wanting to kill wasn't even his idea)
A decent fighter with mob connections that helped him cheat in the ring and get decisions he didn't deserve.

I'll never understand why he gets the accolades he does.

"Joe Frazier is gonna' kick Ali's ass, because Ali has done the one thing that a black man must never do to a soul brother and Joe Frazier is a soul brother--Ali called Joe Frazier an Uncle Tom." Mo Colbert, Annapolis, Maryland, March 7, 1971

Impossible to forget Mo Colbert's words, the day before the Fight of the Century. Ali was, as a number of other folks posting here have said, a **** for stabbing Frazier in the back with the worst insult one black man can give another. On top of it all, and at the root of Frazier's well-justified anger, was the fact that no one else would help Ali when Ali needed cash money to take care of his family. Nothing worse than a backstabber and Ali was a Backstabber with a capital B. Joe made him pay on March 8, 1971, made Ali pay for his insults with every left hook. Rock on, Joe Frazier.

Ali was a revolutionary who was to bring about change, Joe Frazier was seen as to come from the old mold of the Joe Louis era, subservient to the white man. I think Ali saw how America treated his idol Joe Louis and thought '**** That'. He secretly admired Joe because he payed no mind to tactics, it had no negative effect on Frazier come fight night.
