You're trying to say that catchweights don't mean anything? If it meant nothing Marquez would have declined the fight like he already did when they said they wanted it at 147.
I have a theory. Its because De La Hoya wants to look like a great compared to all these fighters so hes planning their downfall, first Hatton, now Marquez!!
no. i'm definitely not saying that. there is now much confusion as to the actual weight this fight will be. there is still no official announcement as to the catchweight or if there is actually one at all. all we know at the moment is that the fight will happen within the welter limit of 147, catchweight or no catchweight.
I'm not aware of any confusion. The fight is at a catchweight of 144, which has been widely reported.
hmm... so, why doesn't floyd confirm this in his interviews and news conferences? he just says that it's a welterweight fight. :huh
Floyd is calling the shots right here. Everybody would want to fight him and sign a contract at this point, even more so Marquez who has one ( slim) chance to pull the upset and rematch later on with Pacquiao ( in case he wins) and the winner of that would retire into the sunset with a crown on his head. It's a question of accepting it or losing the payday and the opportunity. Question is whether JMM will be able to match Floyd's power at this weight class or will he able to sustain the punch impact but won't be able to execute with fluid boxing skills and timing like he did at 130-135. Let's not underestimate JMM here, no matter how small he may look to be against Floyd - the guy was the only one to push Pac to the limits, he took care of heavier men in Casmayor and Diaz... He's a tough dude for anyone and from 130 to 147 pounds.
If you check other boxing sites, they also stated that the fight will be on 147lbs...But there is no clear explanation why...:huh By the way, anybody knows what's the purse split for this fight?
there's a new ******* in town jeff, with a mouth the size of a double decker bus, and the brain the size of a pea
This is a good point. They are basically going to both naturally come in at their ACTUAL weight, regardless.
thank you, these people act as if floyd who isnt a welterweight is going to have a huge advantage just by fighting at 147. Funny how that works, when many of the same people think that it fair for Cotto to fight at 140 a weight that he cant make.
