I never knew Tyson had bad blood with Merchant pre Buster Douglas.

That I know, Tyson took a dislike to Merchant as he did'nt like Merchants call of his KO loss to Douglas............."This makes Cinderella look like a sad story."

It was Merchants job to make that call, though it did'nt sit well with Tyson.

 

Why would anyone allow themselves to be interviewed by someone who doesn't like them anyway? Especially when they can prevent it.

I'm a firm believer in that if you know when you speak with someone and you know you may not be able to control your anger, then its best you don't speak with that person. If I was a big name boxer I wouldn't have Merchant pulling commentary on any of my fights.

 

Same reason why all fighters of a certain type hate Merchant. He DKSAB.

I dont always agree with Merchants views, but I do like that he does'nt pull his punches.
Tyson for the first time in his career got to hear the critcism from Merchant during the broadcast.
......Merchant saying something to the effect of, "the bully being bullied."

A man of character comes back to prove people wrong and does'nt take every comment from an analyst so personally.
We all know that character wise, Tyson was'nt a Giant.

 

And if you ask Mike now about Larry he would say "oh I love Larry,he's a legendary broadcaster and he called a lot of my fights and many great fights and he's a good guy and I have much respect for him." and someone will say to him "but Mike,you used to hate him" and Mike would say "I was a different guy back then."

 

In a fair world, Merchant would be selling hot dogs and peanuts in a baseball stadium. But it's not a fair world, so we have a drunken hot dog salesperson making 100s of thousands to comment on a sport that he knows absolutely nothing about.

Why would he give an ******* who is always taking shots at him the time of day? I don't like PBF's behavior at all but with Merchant I was behind him 100 %, the guy is a real *******.
