I don't know how many people actually watched the fight, by the comments, I suspect very few. Essentially it was a pretty close fight prior to the stoppage, but Leonard started clowning around throwing Bolo punches and things of that nature. Duran was pissed off about that, because all he wanted to do was fight, and so he quite out of frustration.

It wasn't the right thing to do, the right thing to do was to try and take his head off, or slow him down with body punches, but regardless that's what happened.

For better or worse, that's exactly what happened.

Leonard moved too much. Duran wanted no part of that. All of the rumors that Duran ballooned up in weight may have been true, but he was the champion. He could've told Leonard that he needed more time, or taken the fight at a much later date. It took everything for Duran to beat Leonard. Leonard had all of the motivation to gain revenge.

What did your white girlfriend think when Tommy almost killed Duran? Did she ask you if all black guys have big right hands?

Leonard was out-boxing Duran, making him look foolish. Duran is a proud man. And he thought Leonard would re-fight the first fight like a fool. Leonard was smarter.

Why didn't Duran just cut off the ring and punish Ray instead of quitting???

Blame duran for not cutting off the ring like a man instead of quitting like a female.

All duran had to do was step over.:deal..i guess he knew what was in store for him in the later rounds.

He got frustrated that Leonard was clowning him in the last 2 rounds.

No excuses for him but, when both were at their best he won.

Leonard ran like a girl and failed in engage. Duran walked away in frustration.

it was a pathetic display by Ray. no two ways about it.

Even when Duran was the champion SRL had more negotiating options. And I've never looked at the circumstances of the rematch, it's not uncommon for the champion to have a rematch clause.

geez I am just quoting the girls who don't know the fighters names. That's what they say. both girls I showed the fight to were Latinas, for what it's worth. I was trying to emphasize their ignorance of boxing personalities - Leonard was merely "the black guy" to them.

    the internet is too sensitive.
