Did you call me out? Out on what? I wasn´t BSing anything at all. I said: And then I said: I was highlighting the fact that the OP´s point was rather moot. I don´t get what there was to call out.
That this isn't a Pac thread. The TS asked specifically about why Floyd never unified. If someone asks you the score to a game do you give them the score to something else?? Of course not. You want to make this about Pac, simply create one. That's all.
I don´t want to make this about Pac. There is no hidden agenda here. I brought up Pac as an argument.
I didn't like some of Floyd's choice in opposition and inactivity once he became a much bigger name in 2007, but I didn't have a problem with his lack of unifying at the lower weights. It would have been nice to see more of them, but fights are often difficult to make with all the politics. Chico was the best opponent he could take at 130 at that time, and was the IBF champ until right before they ended up fighting. I think Casamayor and Freitas were Showtime fighters at the time? They were negotiating a bout against each other and fought a couple months after Floyd beat Jesus Chavez in his last fight at 130. Stevie Johnston was the next best choice at 135 behind JL Castillo, but he ended up losing not too long after Mayweather's 2nd bout with Castillo. I think Johnston was in jail too during some of Floyd's time at 135. Kostya Tszyu was a Showtime fighter and coming off nearly two years of inactivity when he rematched Shambra Mitchell. Then he lost to Ricky Hatton a couple weeks before Floyd beat Arturo Gatti in his last bout at 140. Hatton and his team were negotiating a deal with HBO, and his team wasn't going to throw him in there with Floyd after beating Tszyu. They were trying to give him more exposure on HBO before finally fighting Floyd.
Youre infatuated by me arent ya ?? ROFLMAO !! Its not healthy little man. The reason Floyd didnt do much unifying was his Cherry pickin' opponents. He always had an excuse NOT to fight the ones he wasnt certain he could beat Even in VEGAS
I think Floyd just did what all top fighters do and have done in the modern era. Only he did it better.
I told somebody that Manny never unified and he told me I was lying.. I had to show him and he couldn’t believe it.. What’s also confusing is the WBO wasn’t recognized by the other bodies for unification fights until Hopkins beat De La Hoya in 2004. So the WBO was pretty much like the IBO is today up until that point.. I’ve learned to just shy away from threads like these because it’s more about agendas. GGG is about to market his next fight as a 22nd defense when literally nobody recognizes WBA regular defenses but his count for some reason. But then they say Floyd flat out ducked Margo when Baldomir had just beaten the Undisputed champ in Zab Judah and the only reason he didn’t keep all the titles was because he couldn’t afford all the sanctioning fees for each organization combined. So Floyd vs Baldomir was technically for the undisputed WW championship.
