Watch his fights vs Al Cole, Lou Savarese and Jeff Wooden even before the Golota fight.
Grant was never anything special, just hyped HBO fighter who never could've reached the top

Golota knocked him down twice, Grant knocked down Golota in the 10th, he got up at 3 and ref Randy Neumann asked him twice if he wanted to continue and Golota said "no".

He reminds me of Andrew Maynard. Both guys were athletic & looked the part but really weren't "fighters".

Grant was an overrated bum.I think he was down by the featherfisted Mccline's first punch. This says all.

    Very defensively flawed fighter.

He also came across as "too nice", he didnt have that buring determination and nastiness that characterises all great boxers who reach the top and stay there.

That character flaw probably even goes a way to explain why he never learnt the defensive side properely and why he couldnt bounce back from the Lewis loss.

When you compare him to Wilder. Now Wilder is a very bad man with ill intentions, Grant never had that in him.

Despite all the flaws you accurately mentioned, I believe Grant had a lot of heart. He wouldn’t have come through the Goleta fight without it.

I think an overlooked weakness for Grant and other fighters is an inability to “relax” during the fight. Wlad is another fighter who comes to mind with this “flaw.” On the other hand, Toney and Floyd epitomize the look of a relaxed fighter.
