I think honestly people do exaggerate how one sided the fight was, probably because of how arrogant Hamed was they were happy to see him lose. But honestly Barrera fought a very cautious fight for the most part, which wasn't his usual style. So that shows you how much he respected Hamed's power. Overall did Barrera clearly win ? Yes. Was it a one sided masterclass ? No not for me.
How can we be sure that Manuel Calvo didn't take his soul? That fight happened after Barerra and he looked like crap. Or maybe Augie Sanchez took his soul. Hamed finished that fight spectacularly but took more punishment than he did against Barerra and maybe any other opponent.
I haven’t watched it since but I remember it being close. Everyone, including myself, expected Barrera to be aggressive but he sat back and countered the counter puncher. Like you said, much closer than most people make out.
The prince robbed us of that beat down with his critical thinking & self preservation… Screw that guy!!
Thats why I feel he should have rematched him. He won a few rounds despite the huge weight cut. If he would have fully focusses maybe he could have done better but it was like everything he build himself up to be got lost when he lost to Barerra. Its a shame though that he didntbfight for a few more years.
I had it close but it’s years since I seen the fight. Tell you what: I’ll check if it’s on YouTube, rewatch and post my scorecard in the Classic sub thread ‘What fights did you watch today “ or whatever it’s called. I’ll tag you when I’ve done it pal.
The only one I have seen he said that he was not at his best and glossed over the question. He wasn’t particularly gracious in defeat. Can’t recall or find the interview, probably about 5 years ago
It's been a while since I last watched it but at least 4-5 rounds but I remember some of the later rounds being close was just there beginning of the fight prince Nas was obviously not taking mab seriously in the beginning of the fight
