He was every bit as good as he thought he was but unfortunately he also thought he could be brilliant without applying himself to training. A victim of his own success and didn’t have anyone around him to force him to focus and take it seriously again. He has since said his heart wasn’t in it way before Barrera and looking back on the few performances prior to that fight, it’s actually fairly obvious with hindsight. There’s still footage on YouTube of the documentary in the build up to the Barrera fight that shows him not turning up for training and just appearing generally not bothered. Sad really, because how good could he have been if he was disciplined throughout his career?
A hyped clown that put people fighting at smaller weights into headlining cards instead of being way down the order. He helped the broadcasters sell those weight classes to the public as being exciting in a way that nobody had really done before. Prior to naz, there weren’t many featherweights earning millions per fight. save your blind hatred and ignorance for somewhere else because I guarantee you enjoyed watching him fight when he was at his best
There has never, ever been a fighter for whom so many excuses have been made for by his supporters than the overrated Hamed, especially for the one loss he suffered professionally. Can anyone imagine what his hype would been like if he actually had beaten a prime great instead of the has beens or never wases that he actually beat?
Naz was a far bettter fighter than he showed in the Barrerra fight. He just didnt commit to the training anymore. Should never have left Ingle. Documentary called Little Prince, Big Fight shows all you need to see as for why he got beat. His camp was a farce.
Barrera was not intimidated by the Prince and walked through Him....You could see Naseem trying his party tricks and Show pony antics and Barrera was not having it.......The next fight would have been much worse for the Prince.....Don't **** with Mexicans.!!!
I think MAB had Hameds number. I honestly believe MAB would have beaten him again. But I believe Hamed just feel out of love with boxing, once that 0 went so did the desire. He had made a shed load of monies and he was already struggling to make weight for fights before MAB, his desire and discipline were very questionable by the time he fought MAB.
It is very easy to be disrespectful to a fighter that was so disrespectful to his opponents as Hamed was. He deserves all of the negative stick he gets.
Still does not make his career a charade Ali was very disrespectful to quite a few opponents. Was his career a charade?
I never said or wrote that his career was a charade. Obviously you have me confused with someone else. I said and wrote he was disrespectful, which he was. Many fighters were/are. And fans should not get their knickers in a twist when other fans are disrespectful to disrespectful fighters.
You replied to a post questioning a remark made about Hameds career being a charade. It appeared like you agreed with it.If you didn`t then i apologise
All I’ll say is Barrera’s dominance in this fight is so overstated and overrated. He did enough to win and that’s about it. He was cautious during the fight and obviously wary of Hamed’s power but still got caught by some good shots. In return the eye catching shots he landed on Hamed were mostly due to Hamed stupidly throwing himself off balance like he usually did. Hamed was still the one landing the harder shots and Barrera was the one wary of being knocked out. I agree Barrera clearly won but the fight gets misrepresented as though Barrera was blithely having his way with Hamed, rather than cautiously throwing one punch at a time.
