Why didn't Wilder pick Emmanuel Stewart as his trainer?

Wilder turned pro in 2008 and was a Olympic bronze medalist. He is a very rough fighter but he does have a lot of good qualities like power, goodish chin, doesn't panic under fire, a good jab on the rare occasion he uses it, and confidence (which also might be a fault). Why didn't a guy like that pick Manny Stewart as a trainer? He had an Olympic medal and he seems to perfectly fit the archetype of a Stewart fighter, Tall, rangy, can punch. Stewart also seemed to think highly of him in that 2012 video right before he died or at least what he could be. why didn't it happen?

I doubt Steward was even available, since he was in such high demand and Steward was very picky about who he worked with. Steward was also a very expensive trainer and Wilder is cheap.

That said I don’t think Steward and Wilder would’ve worked out. Wilder is extremely stubborn and rarely takes instruction from anyone anyway, which would’ve worn Steward’s patience thin very quick. Wilder had a great assistant trainer and matchmaker in Russ Anber, but Anber got tired of Wilder ignoring instructions and constantly overruling his decisions.

In all honestly Breland is the perfect coach for Wilder, since I can’t see any other coach being so patient with Wilder and taking the verbal abuse that Wilder regularly throws at him. Also, Breland works for a very low flat fee, which would never fly with Steward, who only worked on a guaranteed percentage of the purse.

Are you kidding me? Manny was all class, Wilder is trash. I am not calling him a trashy fighter, he is a trashy person. I don't think Manny would be down with that.

Because Steward rather trained an ATG instead of a windmiller.

Wilder is not trash at all, why would you call him that? Wilder is flawed perhaps but he seems like a overall decent indvidual, you however not so much...

Wilder lacked the pure boxing ability that LL and WK possessed.. Steward would have been the right trainer for AJ but Wilder has the right trainers to fit his skill set..

A decent individual who just casually yearns to kill people?

I on the other hand, am completely confident in my degenerate ways. But this isn't about me maaaaan.

    Lol!

Because Steward was already busy training a HW ATG and World Champ. Plus he was busy with Andy Lee and a couple others.
