In all seriousness I would rate Antonio Margarito way higher than that cheater Mayweather that's for sure.
1..Tony wasnt born with the incredible boxing talent Matweather was ...
2..He wasnt cossetted & protected from day one legally & illegally. Mayweather was
    3. Tony was never caught receiving an illegal, excessive saline drip Mayweather was
4., Tony never ever used PED's Almost certain Mayweather did

Everything Tony got he EARNED !!! Was fighting grown men as a teenager to feed his family. What he lacked in boxing skills he made up fur by being a FIGHTER!!!
Took on all comers never backed down from anyone, He demolished Miguel Cotto when he wasn't supposed to spoiling De la Hoya' & Mayweathers plans. No one relished fighting him but he was in the way. The rest is history
Bottom line is Mayweather isn't fit to carry Margarito's jockstrap in my book

Maybe Floyd does truly believe he is TBE, but really this was just another strategy conceived by the money persona and his team to garner more fans and haters. Which in turn gets him more viewers when he fights, more merchandise sales from his fans, more haters talking about him in social networks, more people watching his videos.

Controversy sells. Floyd is extremely talented, but he wanted to maximize his earnings with what talent was bestowed upon him over all else. Criticize him all you want, but he most likely won't spend his final years like some of our heroes will, broke, physically and mentally damaged beyond repair.

He wanted to walk away with his health intact and a ton of money and he succeeded in doing that. He even said it in a video for christ sakes, so why even argue about it. Think about how the later lives of two of boxings brightest stars ended, would you be willing to live their glory days with the hell that's to follow?

10 pages in and only one person has given a case why they believe Floyd is TBE. For a forum with people who love Floyd more than Jesus, that should be saying something.

The Best Ever is as impossible to sought as a time machine, because you'd need a time machine to actually decide TBE. You'd have to go back and pick up all the champions from the past etc etc...and bring them to our time to fight Floyd.

    but you're shooting the messenger.
the reason Mayweather can "control the sport" is because fighters like he and pacman don't need belts, and therefore can't be dictated to by the federations. if there was one federation belts would be coveted, as it is they are a dime a dozen.

it's the federations that make this possible, the fighters just leverage what is best for themselves - including dictating terms of fights to suit themselves because fighting a Mayweather guarantees the opponent a once in a lifetime payday.

and the other fellow didn't have a point.
he was just spouting bull**** that he made up because he hates Floyd. childish stuff.

i'm sure drug-taking is rife in boxing though.
if cycling can be ridden with drug cheats for so long under one federation, imagine what corruption (on all levels) if like in boxing.

Yeah I guess so. I got a great imagination but its kind of blank when it comes to 'what if' topics such as this. Id say this though...

If the current athletes with the developments in sport sciences, nutrition, latest training methods and equipment etc...are better than those in the more distant past. Examples of this are seen in track and field records where old records are beaten with almost every Olympics. If latest is greatest is an actuality, then Floyd would be TBN (The Best Now). We can only make comparisons with the past but not the future.

    it's all relative, I agree.
that's not to suggest though that fighters of past eras don't deserve to be the 'fighters to beat' on P4P lists - of course they do.
but gauging a fighter's dominance in his era based on results against his peers will always be a good yardstick

I don't believe he's the best ever, I don't even believe he's in the top 30 of the best ever.

    I beg to disagree
he has proved that he is not only the best boxer on the planet (during his era), but he EASILY is

only 2 things Floyd could have done better in my book - fought manny 4 years earlier and fought paul Williams at WW
apart from that, he ticked all the boxes

Ditto, being the best fighter in a weak generation of fighters does not make you the GOAT lmao.

that's a very blanket statement considering the number of weight classes Floyd went through. and we're talking about top 30 (as you said)
so by that reckoning, does that mean you don't rate roy jones either?
