Same Povetkin knocked out Whyte and stopped boogeyman (young man) Hunter dead in his tracks despite Hunter jumping old man Povetkin by surprise in opening round
He's not picking on old men it's just that a bunch of his best wins came against old men. Wlad 41, Povetkin 39, Pulev 39. Even though they were old and obviously past their best, they were still good fighters, and highly ranked at the time (sans maybe Wlad who hadn't fought in a year and a half and I don't even remember if he was ranked at the time or not), and dangerous KO punchers. Well, Wlad and Povetkin were. Belly's best win is a Wlad who was four months shy of turning 40 and The Dosser's best win is a 38 y/o Ortiz and that was in their first fight. J-Park's best win is a 40 y/o Big Bang Big Bang's best win is a 38 Big Joe Joyce or 38 y/o Dosser
I like how you don't include...... Wallin 33 Ruiz 31 Parker 27 Whyte 26 And hes fighting Dubois next who's 26 and also fought Usyk twice. Again remind me who else Joshua could've fought ? Fury was stalling the division for years and fought Wilder 3 times. And even if Joshua does fight the likes of Zhang, Fury, they're in their 40s and late 30s. I don't see really see the point of this thread most Heavyweights now are in their late 30s some even in their 40s.
I never said it was great but apart from Usyk who has the two best wins in the division what other Heavyweight has a better resume than Joshua ?
The biggest problem with AJ resume boosters is how they trash Fury and Wilders resumes. Like Ortiz's age is a problem but Povetkins and Pulevs isn't, Wallin and Whyte, Breazeale and Francis are bad opponents when Fury or Wilder fights them but are when AJ fights them they are amazing feats.
Joshua probably has the best record apart from Usyk but the problem with trying to play up names like those are you also then have to play up Wilder's and Fury's records along with it, because their records are stacked with names just like that. As I see it its Usyk in first place, then a distant second place without a lot of separation from whoever that might be and everyone else
Yeah this is exactly my problem also. If you're going to pull out the magnifying glass and dissect everything on Wilder and Fury's record you have to do the same thing to Joshua.
It's good to see this pattern getting more attention. The exact numbers don't matter, the pattern does, fighters the wrong side of 35 and when he is far younger than them. Some could pass it off as coincidence. Problem is that we could see the process happening in real time with Wilder. They only started mentioning the fight again when he was closing in on 40. And they are still delaying it so the earliest it could happen Wilder will be basically 39. This is no coincidence. Fury will also be the wrong side of 35 if they fight him and they've had numerous chances to fight him. It's a very old and transparent trick, ageing fighters, waiting for them to slip. Our old friend Billy Joe at least admitted he was waiting for it with Golovkin. There is absolutely no question AJ and Hearn operate like this. They either jump at the chance to fight old names who are compromised or wait until they see the slippage.
