Why does ereryone hate Teddy Atlas?

Well, for one thing, he is a criminal psychotic who belongs more in jail or a loony bin than on tv. He himself talks about the time he acquired a handgun and went out hunting for the boxer Donny Lalonde with the intent to murder him. Furthermore, like little Maxie, he doesn't really know a damn thing about boxing.

 

Only Larry Merchant and Max Kellerman fans hate Atlas

 

I like Teddy.
I met him the night before the Hopkins Tarver bout at The Borgata in AC.
Took 5 minutes to talk to me and was a cool guy.

 

I know that Teddy has those aggressive phychiatric symptoms and speech malfunctions and that would be alright if he was just dealing with nut cases like Mike or yelling to Moorer or Briggs to boost em up... Now, ESPN should be held responsible for putting such a character with a mic in his hands and interviewing fighters. Sports commentating requires more than practical knowledge, it requires journalistic know-how and class and that's why HBO and Showtime are there where others are not.
