Well im afraid to say your way of thinking is extremely flawed and simplistic. Because......

1) P4P is mythical.....only recently has it become a very real ranking system whereby fighters fight each other for places.

2) Not everyone can 'fight' for p4p status. Giving others easier access to become p4p no.1. If the p4p no.1 just happens to be in your weight division does not mean you are the best should you beat him. Remember styles make fights. Boxing is morre complex than the way you think it is.

 

P.S when was the last time a brawler was p4p no.1? Just out of curiosity. Pacman is not a slugger btw.

I'm sure it is to hype the fight and inspire his fans. Now if Ricky follows a victory over Pac with a victory over JMM, PBF or Cotto I imagine almost everyone would have him #1 p4p.

I respect this list but I would like to know why you have B-Hop at number 2. I know most people have him in the top 5 but I dont know why. He lost to Taylor twice, had success at LHW but then dropped one to Calzaghe. He then beat an over anxious, blown up middleweight. I like Pavlik and hes a good fighter but I dont think Hopkins beating him at 170 pounds should put B-Hop that far up on a P4P list. I would just like to hear you're reason, maybe you can make me understand.

If Hatton wins...

1) JMM (based on cleaning out the LWs, Pac falling short at JWW, and a virtual stalemate over their 2 fights)
2) Pac
3 or 4) Hatton

Hatton falls just short of being able to claim the p4p throne with a victory. If he was a weight smaller he would have a good case.

 

Well, Hatton is already in the top 10, has beaten some very good fighters, and has been in a fight with the former P4P no.1 (and has only lost to that guy)

Beating a prime, pretty much consensus P4P no.1 would get him high in the rankings. If he won my P4P list would look like this

1) JMM
2) B-Hop
3) Hatton
4) Pac
5) Vasquez

Depending of course on how the fight panned out and how Hatton won it. If he was very competitive but it looked like Pac won a close but clear decision but somehow Hatton won the decision, I' move Hatton up a few notches, but as long as Pac didn't get dropped numerous times and had himself been very competitve (as I say deserved to win the decision) then I'd probably keep him no.1

Pac gets K.O'd I'd move him down to five. Hatton would probably be no.2 in that instance.

If Pac K.O's Hatton or schools him I'd be inclined to move Hatton to 10th place or possibly out of the top 10.

This fight could be career ending for either guy, or they could both come out of it with a lot of credit and pride. Personally I hope it goes to the cards with a 115-113 for either man. Or a Draw. Or a SD.

To be honest, I'm a big fan of both guys and hope they both have enough left after this fight to finish their careers as they should. Pac vs. Valero and then Marquez for a 3rd time, Hatton vs. Last Man Standing at 10 stone.
