Yes it is a wonderful sport, which is why saying JMM is great or near great is an insult on a sport where being great should be something which is a rarity. I have watched boxing for 35 years, which I why I say he is overrated. I have seen greats and know what it takes to be a great. He has not beaten opponents which would prove he is great. He is very very good but not great. Not ATG.

it was a long time ago but I remember the fight well. With the deductions and John being the boxer and winning the early rounds I thought he won it 116-112, which without the deductions a one point fight. Are you going to ask me for my round to round scorecard?

Barkley had a good style for Hearns, similar with Marquez to Pacman. Barkley was willing to stand and slug as he was getting hit, and that worked well against Hearns in ring center in the rematch. The first fight Hearns was faster and just got careless. In the rematch Hearns couldn't really box anymore being heavier and older, so he couldn't move on his legs and pick his shots. He was lying on the ropes to buffer Barkley's bigger blows, and then Tommy would pick his shots and counter off the ropes. A grueling inside fight. Tommy fought Barkley's fight, but he had to. Barkley's style made it so that Tommy had no choice. And Tommy almost won that fight. If I remember correctly, had Hearns won one more round he would have gotten a draw and kept his title. As it was it was a SD.

As for Barkley/Hearns, the first fight Barkley landed a big punch when Tommy got careless. The ironic thing is had Hearns in round 3 of the first fight layed on the ropes and picked his shots, he would have probably stopped Barkley in round 5 or 6 by cuts or bodypunches. Hearns was headed for a stoppage win, which is something Nunn nor Duran or Kalambay had against Barkley.

Do we have to do this **** again MAG? Last time you compared JMM to Barkley and people were jumping on the bandwagon that he didn't have an ATG resume, I had to post this **** to shut people up about a career they knew nothing about. The way people pick apart JMM's resume is just as applicable to someone like Pacquiao, Mayweather, Hearns, and many fighters considered ATG's.

Marquez has consistently fought the best opposition available besides a few exceptional and ambiguous mishaps, and anyone with the actual knowledge and background in the events of his career will know this fact without question.

I thought marquez clearly beat john.

Hearns boxed pretty well against hill.

No use saying hearns was headed for a stoppage because he got stopped which is something both sumbu and duran could avoid.
